helinues: Helinues, i dont care! I am a yoruba man and a million of your kind cannot change that. You think our education in yorubaland is a joke? Asiwaju might have succeeded in subverting the laws in Lagos State. We are talking of Federal level now and it is the 1999 constitution that applies. If you tinker with it through perverse judgments, then there are real life consequences. |

Philgafauto:Oga you're research is highly flawed. Washington state is very different from Washington DC. The distance between the two is further than that of Nigeria and Ghana. So what analogy are you making? |

Tingotoe: I dont think distance has anything to do with this issue. And we both know Washington DC is located inside Washington State. Washington is one and not two, the size notwithstanding. Likewise, FCT can have a minister while a Governor has and exercises executive powers donated by the constitution and the mandate of the electorates. This is not a difficult issue at all. It is just a constitutional consequence which will flow from the Supreme Court's judgment. |

This is actually so scary that you people as a large group refuse to see logic, common sense and cannot apply it. You are also taking a loss this hard. Crazy. Everyone else has moved on. |

Philgafauto: Your argument is saying 25% of votes in FCT is enough to elect anyone. PEPT is telling you that FCT voters are not special. You can delude yourself with your other conjunctions but that is the argument. |

2mch: What are you talking about? Everybody has moved on but we are just analyzing the effects of the precedent of the upcoming judgment. I am tired of you APC guys jaree. And it is a pity most of you are yorubas. We yorubas are supposed to be fair, wise and just but partisanship has done a number on you guys. We are talking about Nigerian constitution but you guys insist on tribal bigotry to destroy the constitution. My own kind of yoruba still cares about the constitution. I dont hate Asiwaju and i wont burn the constitution and destroy Nigeria's Supreme Court because he is a fellow Yoruba man. Things have to be done appropriately for Nigeria to still stand as a united country. You might think you are spiting the igbos but you are destroying Nigeria. Some of us lawyers dont have any other profession and we wont allow Asowaju Tinubu to destroy what we labored almost 8 years to achieve because of one man's ambition. |

naijapips04: The PEPT may be correct. What we professionals are saying is that there are real life consequences for the affirmance of PEPT's judgment. The framers of Section 134 of the 1999 Constitution are old, wise and considerate military guys who have shed blood to keep Nigeria one. How bad can a President be if he cant get 25% in Abuja?? Is he that hated? ALL NIGERIANS live in Abuja. It is a melting pot and the symbol of Nigerian unity. A Nigerian President must get 25% there. If that provision must change due to a constitutional interpretation by the Lord Justices on the Supreme Court bench, then the people of Abuja must be accorded their due rights. 1 Like |

Philgafauto: All Nigerians live in all part of Nigeria. If 25% in Abuja is all that's required, politicians will just close shop and only come to Abuja to campaign. Because you migrated to Abuja doesn't make your votes more important than someone voting in his village. |

Tingotoe: This is big lie! Wahington is one! D.C is district inside Washington. You go update yourself. I am not your usual APC minion you can bamboozle with lies. Moreover, washington's size has no correlation with the Abuja situation. Abuja is a big ass place. I have been there many times and a Minister and Governor can operate therein without their functions colliding. We have both democrats and republicans holding office in Washington State without hassles. Pramiyal Jayapal of the progressive caucus of the Democratic Party in the US House of Reps represents the good people of Washington State. In total, 8 Democrats and 2 Republicans represent Washington in the US House of Representatives. So why cant the indigenes of Abuja enjoy the same rights since the Supreme Court is set to nullify their special status donated and enshrined in section 134 of the 1999 Constitution? |
Re: IF THE SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS PEPT JUDGMENT, ABUJA WILL BE A STATE by Philgafauto: 3:36pm On Sep 11, 2023 |
naijapips04: Ok, we accept that Section 134 of the 1999 Constitution has been scrapped by the PEPT and will be affirmed by the Supreme Court. What will the people of Abuja be left with then? Do you want to eat your cake and still have it? |

They're too blind to see it and naive to believe it. They think they can always have their way through illegality. Now that the issues touch constitutional provisions, we will see if the constitution will finally be unwittingly suspended by them. They fear military coup, without knowing their greed and lust for power will usher it in by default. Either way, SC judgement will usher us into a new reality as a nation, whether for good or bad. A case of having your cake and eating it. |

naijapips04: what these people dont consider is that the clause ...and Abuja, is the only reason that Abuja people have votes at all. If it merely stated 36 states, they would not have gotten any vote. now they are thinking that Abuja voters should have veto power. Is there a criterion for living in Abuja that suggest anything special about the residents? Are they selected or elected to represent any power block? are they more intelligent that others or what? |

Lol. So what will happen if FCT residents decide to go to court to demand for a state? How will the case make Peter Obi president or remove Tinubu from office? What exactly are you guys happy about? How will Abuja becoming a state be a problem to Tinubu? Again, which court will they go to? The same court that ruled rightly that FCT voters have no special veto power over the votes of the rest of Nigerians or your own Obidient court where emotional and illogical arguments takes precedence? Do you guys reason at all before opening senseless threads all over the place? 2 Likes |

naijapips04:A simple majority could have just won the election. Why was there even need for 25% in 24 states and FCT? It's all about spread and jurisdiction. It may not make all the sense but it does make some sense that the president who will be the administrator of Abuja should get at least 25% of the support of the people. That is not difficult to ask. And this is just for the first ballot. Because where there is a second ballot, neither 25% in 24 states nor 25% in FCT will be required but a simple majority. |
