Taiwo Awoniyi is becoming too religious in the game for my liking. You lot should learn to keep your religions away from the game.

If una like make una think say we don ready for defense department. This victory reminds me of how we beat the SΓ£o TomΓ© 10-0 and we were feeling like we were all that.

We only have attack. We need games to know what we are doing defensively especially in the CB position.

NwaIdeato:
I'll put my neck on the chopping block by insisting that Iheanacho will really thrive in that #10 role if he's given the chance to realpt grow into the role. I know it was Sao Tome but I've always seen Iheanacho as a very cerebral attacking midfielder type of player who can play off the shoulder of our #9s (Awo, Osimhen, Boniface and Gift). When Iwobi returns, it becomes a question of how we can fit in all this plethora of attacking options (that will be Peseiros biggest puzzle and I don't envy him one bit). The dynamism of our attack is such that we might have to play more of a 352 formation to really bring out the best of our forwards.

And to think that Nathan Tella and Chuba Akpom haven't even joined sef.

Ndidi is finally growing on me, that new role he has been playing under Enzo Maresca as this ball progressing #8 has unlocked some crazy beast in him, his passing both on-and-off the ball looks so assured, even God knows we badly needed this Ndidi revamp cause he's a very solid player that needed the right coaching to unload his abilities and express himself fluidly.

Boniface, Awo, Osimhen and potentially Gift Orban will do some serious damage at that AFCON, with Ademola/Nathan Tella and Chukwueze on the wings.

I like Frank Onyeka's game, solid pivot in that midfield with very good attacking abilities as well, him and Ndidi will form a solid anchor, Aribo is still decent. We definitely do need 2-3 more midfielders to be finally complete in that department.

Our full back depth is really GOOD- Aina, Ebuehi, Bruno onyemaechi, Osayi Bright, Zaidu/Collins.

Center back pairings still a work in progress so the jury is still out on what the likes of Bassey and Jordan Torunarigha will offer...but veterans like Ajayi, Ekong and maybe Omeruo will be trusted to bring some stability to that backline at the AFCON.

I think we're few midfield tweaks away from being ready for the big stage, maybe Peseiro should look the way of either Fisayo dele bashiru, Kelechi Nwakali and perhaps one of the U20 boys.

How exactly do you describe "too religious"? And how does his "religiousity" hurt anybody? How his he any different from many other players who express their faith in the game?

For some players, Muslims especially, they without fail bow their head in worship when they score a goal. The best player in the world at some point Kaka was known to flash "thank you Jesus" whenever he scores a goal and he was expressive and unapologetic about being evangelical. Arguably one of the best sprint athlete in the world today Sydney Mclaughlin is 10x more expressive about her faith l. It's easily one of the first things you'll notice about her when you check her out and she does it in a more liberal society like the US.

Taiwo has only flashed once if I remember correctly, yesterday was celebrating with his corss ingrained shin guard which again isn't unusual. Much of the expression of his faith has been on his social media, which any disinterested person is free to unfollow.

I hope you wouldn't be mad if he was flashing a symbol of Calabash filled with some materials?

Don't seek the convenient way out, stay with the issue. I wasn't the one who expressed reservations about someone else's expression of faith, you did. I only drew you attention to the fact that this isn't peculiar to Taiwo, many other player/athletes do this. 2 days ago, Coco Gauff kneeled to pray upon winning the US open. Yesterday Djokovic decided to celebrate with a T-shirt honouring his friend Kobe Bryant. To each one his own.

Also, not that it is any of our business if he were "too religious" in his expressions, but your characterization of him being too religious is also wrong. In the last year he probably has only had 2 goal celebration with religious leanings. How do you characterize two isolated incident as "too much". Pretty sure much of your reference on his being "too religious" is what he does on his social media pages which again isn't anyone's business and anyone disinterested is free to unfollow him. To think that Just a few weeks ago on this same thread, some people were even accusing same Taiwo having boring celebrations.

To your question, no I wouldn't have a problem if traditionalist express their faith in a 30sec goal celebration just as I do not with Christians and Muslims.

You are actually right, someone @ Melvinity now referred to the Sierra Leone game as if that was the only where we scored 4 goals under Rohr and still ended up drawing, so my response should have been attached to that.

I must commend coach Peseiro for the dynamism in his 4-4-2 arrangement that saw Iheanacho and Lookman playing as attacking midfielders rather than actual wingers. This is wonderful. This is marvelous. Judging from the profiles of both players, and the quality surrounding them, it wasn't surprising seeing what they did with the ball.

We defended as a unit. This is a massive leap from the way we coordinate our transitions. It is not just in the manner of tracking back when we are without the ball, but in the fact that every player that started, had a remarkable contribution to defense.

We also attacked as a unit. We defended as a unit which helped our build up plays and the consequent transitioning to attack. With the exception of the defenders, every other outfield player that started the game made a key pass, showing how massively involved the players were whenever we attack. The way we worked our plays into scoring situations, revealed a burgeoning cohesion and coordination.

My commendations for Peseiro is not that we beat Sao Tome and Principe, but in the manner we did.

Iheanacho is such an intelligent player and was the MOM at yesterday game. If you want to get the beat out of iheanacho, play him at his best position and you will a potential world class player.
