Hi Nairalanders! I need urgent Advice, please. I applied for a German study Visa early this year. Since the waiting period is 18 months, my calculation is, that by next year I should receive an appointment date. I had already zeroed my mind from this year. Lo and behold, an Appointment date came today, honestly I am not prepared for it. It's too sudden to raise over 11M within 20 days. Is it possible to reschedule my appointment (for probably summer semester)? Some people advised me to show up for the interview regardles s of whether my account is fully blocked or not. I am really devastated and confused on what to do.

Hello House, is it possible to get admission with a CGP of 1.53 to study a Bsc course in Germany?
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by seniordev: 1:33am On Sep 16, 2023
You can check youtube for formats. But for mine, I had four paragraphs.

The first paragraph: I introduced my self, the visa I was applying for, my program and the duration as well as language of instruction. then what i studied for my bachelor’s degree.

Second paragraph: I was switching fields so I gave a brief reason around that and how my bachelors thesis motivated the change. Then the reason for studying the course and its benefits to my home country.

Third Paragraph: Why germany, why my school, why my program.

Fourth: My future plans which includes coming back to nigeria and how i will use the impact of my program. A closing line about looking forward to a favorable response.

Ensure you address it to the consulate and then sign the letter and put the date and location.

I would also advise using grammarly and maybe chatgpt for proof reading and making it very direct and concise. Good luck!

Weird luck.

I think it's better to reschededule your appointment than to get rejected at the spot. You can contact them to see if you can reschedule until next year presenting a tangible/believable reason.

If I may ask, when did you book your appointment this year and what category did you choose during appointment booking.

Depends on the course. You should be able to get into schools that offer open admission. But, very dependent on the course.

Hello everyone. Pls I need a first hand information on documents to be submitted on visa interview appointment.
I have seen the check list on the website and I need some clarity.
Anyone that has attended an interview I will appreciate your assistance on this.
Do I certify both copies of each document? Or certify a copy and make a photocopy of it?
Does the two copies each include everything listed on the check list ?
Do I certify copies of my expired passports as well?
Is the primary school report and secondary report sheets necessary since I'm going for MSc.
Lastly do i need to make a flight reservation and submit a health insurance?
Pls I will really need your thoughts on this. If possible give me a breakdown of how you did everything. I will be glad. Thank you.

Nairaland is like an inventory for years to come. I learned a lot when I joined from the experiences of people dating 5 years back. I comment not for him, but for thousands more that will visit this thread so they don't have false hope.

Hello, have you gotten AM please?

Which year was that?
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by seniordev: 1:29am On Sep 18, 2023
- I didn't do any certification. Just bring two copies of each of the documents on the checklist. You don't need to certify your old passports.
- For the visa form, it should be TWO copies of the filled VIDEX long-term stay application form, you can find the link on the national visa page. (no photocopies). Please ensure you are filling the long-term form not short term.
- For the declaration form too, it should be two signed copies (no photocopies)
- Nah, just use your WAEC certificate
- No flight reservation till after you get the approval mail.
- For the health insurance, it is the travel insurance they require you to submit. It is not compulsory to submit it at the appointment if you don't have it yet. But if you are using Fintiba Plus (I think expatrio too), they would offer free travel health insurance. Then you can submit that during your appointment (I submitted mine).
- Also, sign your CV and letter of motivation with the date and time.
- Do not staple any documents. Use paper clips because after they go through your documents, they will staple them themselves.

If you have any further questions, you can ask.

[Thank you very much for your timely response. Pls on the videx form, what should i fill in on the reference part ? Also for the age declaration, is there a standard template of getting it done since I was born before 1992. ]

Hello, please I applied last year December 2022. Is there any chance I’ll get an appointment this year? Have they started responding to people who applied late last year?

Please Have you got your Visa? If yes, how long did it take from the day your passport was delivered to the embassy?

Yes

- For the reference part, I also went back and forth with it. I spoke to the international office at my school and they said I should put down the contact of the admissions office that handles students from Africa. This is because my school has a dedicated department for handling school references.

So what I can advise is for you to mail the international office and ask them for guidance, they have the best answer for you.
In the case they do not reply on time, check your admission letter and see if there are any contact details. Or ask people in your university who have gotten a visa.

- For the age declaration, I have no idea. I was born after 1992.

Waiting time is currently 18 months. Two months ago it was exactly a year. So expect a date around June next year. But anything might happen from now until then. Just make sure you have your admission and POF/Declaration of Commitment

Do you mean the PDF visa form attached to the student checklist?

If yes, the VIDEX form is the digitalized version of it. After filling out the form, a QR code is generated at the end of the form and this would allow the visa officers to have access to the filled form. So fill out the long-term stay Videx form and print it out. You don't have to worry about the other one.
