Madam, if you are not ready to buy something for your househelp when you take her out with your own kids, please leave her at home. She is someone's child too.

She came in with her husband, 2 kids and their help, another kid of about 11 or 12 years. Immediately they sat down, the husband left probably to come and pick them up later. She ordered three turkey, a Hollandia yoghurt for the kids and Star radler.

When it was served, she gave one turkey to her son of about 6years, one to the daughter of say 3-4yrs and the other one for herself. While they were feasting on the turkey and drinks, the house help sat on another table starring hungrily and helplessly. Every time the madam turns towards her, the house help will quickly look away to avoid eye contact with madam.

That lady even ate the little piece left by her daughter, paid the bills and left..

I know that she might not be the only person guilty of this despicable act, so let's have your comments and opinions on the matter so others like her will learn and probably change....

cause to me I feel her action might put the children at great risk of maltreatment and possible harm by the househelp.

The problem is employing a minor. One should only employ an adult. As for buying the same thing for my house help as my kids, that is laughable. When I buy a piece of turkey or cake for my child, I do not have to buy it for my house help. I pay her a salary. I don’t pay my kids. If the house help does her job well and I am happy with her, I may give her a treat.

My wife was doing the same thing to her nephew living with us, but I stopped it over time. But she did insults me for doing so, but I never care until she stopped it.

The so-called salary you pay her, is it enough for her to afford that turkey and cake you are chopping with your child in her front, without offering her any, because you are selfish?

One thing you women need to realise is that all humans are equal before God.

You all go to church and shout ''in Jesus' name'' over everything, but I don't know what you go to that church to do, because you are still selfish and lack empathy.

The day you leave this world, you will return to the Afterlife and realise that that house help you felt so superior to, and so selfish towards, is actually a powerful immortal spirit being beloved of God.

She is a 'mere house help', so she ought to be attending a public school.

That is how Nigerian women's minds work.

They're terrible, especially the Igbo women.

It's almost as if it is the Igbo culture to maltreat their house help.

In any organization the security guard works hard, maybe more hours than the MD, but the salaries are not the same. The MD’s skills are more relevant to that organization. You’re talking about being equally loved by God. This is completely true. However, if you remember the parable where a servant was given five talents, another two talents and the third one talent, they were rewarded based on their achievements. Also, the Bible says “ “A servant pampered from youth will turn out to be insolent.” My house help stated the amount I am paying her. I did not negotiate with her. I treat her well, but I know she is not my child.

Why do men (husbands) stand by and watch their wives maltreat helps, without intervening and putting an end to the maltreatment?

What I find most annoying is how you men who are supposedly the head of the family/household, allow these things to happen and repeatedly occur in your homes. While saying nonsense like madam will accuse me of taking sides with the help or accuse me of sleeping with her.

Where does all that logical, alpha male energy you like flexing, suddenly goes to, in the face of cruel treatment of helps? Is the logical thing to do not to caution your wives and end the maltreatment? You people will not do it but will continue to shout we are logical.

Some of you married folks will sha not make heaven because of this issue, both of you, as in, husbands and wives, who do this.

Modified to add; You men are unbelievable . I logged in to see 12 mentions of this post. And not one of you has made a valid point in defence of the lackadaisical attitude you display when your wives maltreat helps. The only thing I have read is excuses......one excuse after another and claims of men not being aware of the maltreatment.

Newsflash, every true life story of a help being mistreated, which I have read on this forum, was authored by a man/husband. Meaning men are often aware of what goes on in their households. Now, most of you are claiming the men are not usually aware. Please tell me another story

Your complacency in this matter makes you just as guilty as the perpetrators (your wives). Excuses are tools of the incompetent, they that use them are not wise. You all can do better o. Please flex those muscles and know when to be an unrelenting hard ass in your homes and quit making excuses. It's nauseating coming from men who should be taking charge.

Dem never born my wife well to bring in house help, it's either she does the chores by herself or the kids do it. Can't cope with lazy wife. And if I will need the services of one, the girl must've complete front and back. She must dress attractive and sweet coz I can't live with a smelly house help always wearing rags coz of one lazy wife.
