He was killed by armed robbers who have been terrorizing the Estate in Isolo.

They came for him (Teni's father) simply bcoz they knew him to be a retired General who they felt had not allowed them to operate freely in the Estate.

They also said he mobilized the Estate security and they said he equipped them with guns to challenge the robbers.

So, when the robbers came, the Estate security outfit engaged them together with the General himself and some robbers were killed while some fled.

The next time the robbers came was like a large gatherings of conglomerate of robbers purposely to kill one person, and that was how he was killed.

I don't know how things are done but one thing I know is that a military personnel retiring at the level of general will have soldiers posted to his abode. Then again why didn't the gen reach out to his division for backups, why was he single-handedly fighting the robbers.

So,Teni was the daughter of Apata memorial...this is unbelievable.

The death of Apata as a 13year old boy made us sick then. I schooled just close to that school.

That is one of biggest private schools in those days,in fact that is where u would see prominent and expatriates children in Nigeria then.

They had luxurious buses as school buses then.

Apata really disturbed Shina rambo and his gangs then.

I listen to this song on repeat back then when I was a bit down.

Teni as a youngster of 2 will not remember WHY those armed robbers purposely came into their living room and assassinated her father. I lived barely 1km away and do remember the story well. These robbers came for someone else, the police were called but as expected, they refused to turn up. General Akpata hearing that a neighbour was in distress, grabbed his gun and went in pursuit of the robbers. He killed one or two of them. A week later, the robbers came back for him as a revenge mission!

The memory of dat day is still very fresh in my mind. I passed in front of the house that very morning. I was in ss1 then. People gathered in front of d house at Okota gossiping

That guy posted rubbish. Apata was killed by armed robbers. He was a great man. A disciplinarian to the core. Despite running a school for the rich, he was able to tamed them. The school was envy of everybody.
