Please, moderators, let this be on the front page.

In 2019, I borrowed money from a family member, then, I had no job. In total, he sent me 200 thousand naira to my Access Bank over eight months - money I have repaid.

In 2020, I was lucky and started working as an IT worker with a company based in the UK, but then I received my salary with GT Bank and used my Access Bank for regular transactions. Soon after, Access Bank locked my account.

I called their customer service, and they said my account was restricted, and I had to reach their branch. I went there, and the police arrested me in Warri and sent me to Benin without telling me what I did.

I said if this were because of the 200 thousand naira my family member sent me, I would pay back; they held me and told me the person who sent me the money did fraudulent business. Like, go arrest the person and leave me alone. I'll send the money back. I was locked up with criminals for two weeks.

The bank or police couldn't reach me to inform me of anything, money I would have paid quickly. I earned in dollars. I lost my $10,000 contract and was jobless for months. I started having mental issues because of the arrest and inhumane treatment.

Don't bank with Access Bank; if you run a legit business, they will ruin your life.

Instead of coming on naira land to write unverified nonsense, shouldn't you be preparing your lawsuit against the branch of the bank and the nigerian police force?

I'm preparing my lawsuit against them for sure. You call this nonsense; l almost lost my life. You're evil. Do you know how many Nigerians go through a situation like this? Like is the country in a good state.

You're evil, and your comment proves you're amongst people who ruin people's lives in the country.

Are you having the same surname with the family member and what happened afterwards to the family member?

Yes, the same surname. Nothing. Nigeria's legal system is trash. Everyone knows this.

I have to post about this issue with Access Bank for people and customers to be aware they can face setbacks, stress, dehumanisation and loss of their lives when banking with that bank.

Sorry for your ordeal.

however what you should also advice is for people to stop borrowing money especially from family and relatives with dubious source.

The charges against you is you're a beneficiary of stolen funds.

It's hard for police to do investigation when they are seeing that the funds was truly in your account which you'd agreed to have received.

Before you get a lawyer and start spending money make sure the person who send you those funds is in police costody if not na waste of money.

Send me money send me money fit carry person reach Angola ooo.

Everyone reading this should hustle make them no go send you fraud money ooo.

If stolen funds enter your account the person report nothing you go tell police ooo.

Sorry once again for everything you already have the skillset to land a job abroad.

Dust yourself and move on good luck

Sure, but Access Bank and GT Bank are frauds. They have ruined my business. It's why people use Opay, Kuda and others alike. Nigeria should avoid them! If you're in business and living in Nigeria, please use good banks, or you and your business will suffer.

It's quite unfortunate you had to go through all that.
But, the truth is bitter, but I will say it. You being arrested with connection to unknowingly receiving illegitimate funds, is not out of line for the bank or police. Remember, ignorance is not excuse by law.

The fact remains that your account did indeed receive the money and it was traced to be among the accounts the illegal funds were distributed with.

That is an established fact. The idea that you were not aware that the funds were illegal, unfortunately might have no basis.

Discuss with your lawyer, and if he/she is an honest one, he would probably tell you its a dead case.

Count your lose and move on... Rebuild your mental state of mind and go back out there to make it bigger.

Holier than thou attitude. What are you trying to say. Bank has a right to have him arrested in such manner

Are you aware it is a criminal offense to even arrest anyone have them locked up without informing them of the charge. Stay clear of giving counsel if you can't give sound counsel like an educated person

First your story is not very clear, at the beginning you said you have repaid the 200k. Then later on you said you will repay it.

Second, if it is true that the money you received was actually from the proceeds of criminal activities, then you should thank your stars that you're out of detention already and walking free.

Third, I'm quite curious as to how much you think you have made now that makes you want to sue a mega bank?

Someone is saying something completely true, the least you can do is try to verify on your own before opening your mouth waaa to reveal your undiluted ignorance. That's how you people will go from 18 to 40yrs without learning anything new.

I said I'll repay the money again for them to release me. Guy read well.

If I can't win the case against the bank in court, then the whole world will know of their fraudulent activities. Bad PR can make companies lose profits and customers.

Bad PR and services are why most people use Opay and Kuda over many commercial banks.

Thanks, my stars for money I don't know anything about it. Is it a crime I borrowed money? Just Imagine a family member sent you money, and you get arrested for receiving it; is it normal? Without the bank or police calling or inviting you for questioning? Just got arrested without telling me my crime.

Don't worry, when one of these banks deals with you, you go wise.

You talk like you have no sense, really. You're an illiterate. Do you even know what a crime is?

This is actually what destroyed you not Access bank.

From the looks of things Access bank just released your info to the police on request and they locked you up as a live link to the suspect.

Technically you were detained only.

You can sue but you'll come out empty handed

At times we give a bank a name it does not bear beacuse of our experiences. Why have other people not have same experience like you? Anybody who has an issue with a bank should formerly seek for a redress.

I worked in those 2 banks before and I can confidently tell you that's its police or Efcc that placed that lien on your account & asked those banks to detain you upon arrival to any of their branch. go and settle ur criminal case with the relevant authority and leave the banks out of it.

Hi, I have question for you oooo,

1) I have a business and someone come buy market from my hand, asin normal business transaction, then later police come lock my account and when I go bank to complain, I got arrested because of say the fund sent to my account have a fraudulent origin, DO YOU THINK ITS RIGHT.

2) Or if I use my atm card go do pos transaction somewhere and I later report myself to police claiming that armed robbers withdrew my money at the pos point under gun point, do you think it's still OKAY?

Let's call a spade a spade, Nigeria police and judiciary is bastardized, someone somewhere can create false allegations and have police arrest you without doing proper investigation, and we both knows that once you enter that police cell, you'll use money to bail yourself even if you are NOT GUILTY, or the guilty person has been found.

Na here we read that someone reported an armed robbery in his neighborhood and police came there later and arrested everyone in the area, even the person who reported the crime bailed himself with ₦150k, what does that tell you about the country we found ourselves in.

It's sad to say this but the only people that justice and law favour in Nigeria are the rich and powerful.

So funny the police cannot arrest me for a crime but locked my account. So they used the bank, which are fools and don't protect customers. The more reason I went to the bank to clear myself. Now I am free. But for Access and GT Bank, they will die slowly, which is already happening because Nigerians are tired of their poor service and foolishness.

You talk like an illiterate; when they employ senseless people like you in a bank, they lose customers and make the bank stupid because you have no sense or experience about banking and it's laws.
