NaijaNaWaa: Well, it is what black people have to face when outside their dominant environment. The only solution is for the dominant environment (sub-Saharan Africa) to be prosperous. Once that is done, everyone would want to befriend black people. No one likes poor people. It sucks, but na so life be. https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically 5 Likes 2 Shares |

nairalanda1: Fair enough, compared to the days of "No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs", it has improved. But the fact that anti-immigrant parties & organisations like UKIP and EDL still exist in the UK and have members says a lot. |

Wole Soyinka "Telephone Conversation" The price seemed reasonable, location Indifferent. The landlady swore she lived Off premises. Nothing remained But self-confession. "Madam," I warned, "I hate a wasted journey--I am African." Silence. Silenced transmission of Pressurized good-breeding. Voice, when it came, Lipstick coated, long gold-rolled Cigarette-holder pipped. Caught I was foully. "HOW DARK?" . . . I had not misheard . . . "ARE YOU LIGHT OR VERY DARK?" Button B, Button A.* Stench Of rancid breath of public hide-and-speak. Red booth. Red pillar box. Red double-tiered Omnibus squelching tar. It was real! Shamed By ill-mannered silence, surrender Pushed dumbfounded to beg simplification. Considerate she was, varying the emphasis-- "ARE YOU DARK? OR VERY LIGHT?" Revelation came. "You mean--like plain or milk chocolate?" Her assent was clinical, crushing in its light Impersonality. Rapidly, wave-length adjusted, I chose. "West African sepia"--and as afterthought, "Down in my passport." Silence for spectroscopic Flight of fancy, till truthfulness clanged her accent Hard on the mouthpiece. "WHAT'S THAT?" conceding "DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS." "Like brunette." "THAT'S DARK, ISN'T IT?" "Not altogether. Facially, I am brunette, but, madam, you should see The rest of me. Palm of my hand, soles of my feet Are a peroxide blond. Friction, caused-- Foolishly, madam--by sitting down, has turned My bottom raven black--One moment, madam!"--sensing Her receiver rearing on the thunderclap About my ears--"Madam," I pleaded, "wouldn't you rather See for yourself?" 1962 1 Like |

ghettochild: Trust me I know how you feel. However, I’ve been favoured here in SA. I’ve worked with two of the biggest banks and other notable firms. It just saddens me how our fellow Nigerians behave here, especially the drug peddlers. However in my own little way I’ve tried to be a bacon of light for my home country. I hope you’re okay? 3 Likes |

nairalanda1: I understand that some discrimination has reduced because of laws, the Caribbean community in the Uk paved the way for other blacks, they suffered in the hands of skin heads and people shouting go back to Africa which literally increased their aggressiveness towards whites, this aggressiveness still exist today among blacks of all heritage. btw. i was reading a statistics of uk with regards to job opportunities according to race, blacks are the bottom of the food chain in the uk, about 30% of blacks are doing low skill/low pay jobs compared to other races and this is from the official data from the uk government 2 Likes |

Never encountered one. No red light ticket. No police stop ever since I came here. I live in a 90% white neighborhood. Infact everyone loves my accent. The police know me very well. I also recently help them catch a murderer. I have been watching the guy and use dash cam to record him. Something in me never went well with him. God bless America. XtraFortunes: As much as I despise racism, some of the rednecks may have a little justification for racism and if I may play the devil's advocate for a bit. Their country is developed, they've managed to build a working system through sheer hard work over the years and some of them have never had contact with blacks before. Also, there are some places where blacks are always in the news for the wrong reason all the time. What exactly is the reason behind tribalism? All the tribes in Nigeria are equally backward with very little to show the last time I checked and we are the same fvucking black skin. Why exactly does one backward tribe think they are better than the other backward tribe? it's the same shit in different toilets. I apologize for my frankness. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

planetx:I have long stopped commenting on Nairaland because of miscreants and bigots that full Nairaland . Before you remove the dust in someone's eyes, first remove the log of wood in your own eyes . Before, talking about racism and discrimination in abroad, first deal with the tribalism, ethnic bigotory and discrimination in Nigeria. 1 Like |

TheCongo2: Number 3 is apt. In naija and nairaland where the tribalism is so bold and brazen, its almost impossible to detect subtle racism. People can be difficult as humans, does not necessarily mean they are being racist. The only person I have had an issue with was my next door neighbor who called the parking authority when a guest parked on his part of the shared property line even though he has my number. Dude is married to a black woman and has biracial kids. |

IjeBos:. I would not argue with you and may be you may probably right. There are still hundreds of other white countries where blacks are living comfortably that were never developed the said blacks. The 8th wonder of the world is why blacks are still unable to develop their own country in 2023 and Nigeria is a case in point. The blacks that developed the USA did so under close scrutiny and supervision of the whites. Left to themselves, the USA will be like Nigeria. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

Nigerians have no moral rights to discuss rasism when tribalism and religious war is our Succour here. By the way a year in Canada, 2yrs in India, and few in UAE never experienced it first hand 2 Likes |

falopey: No politician had told me anything about racism. Canada has a specialized commission that deals with racism. It is called the Canadian Human Rights commission. The data of this commission are available and you can make your own conclusion based on those data. You have been in the US for 7 years and never experience racism ... hmmmmm ... What do you do for living if I may ask ? We may just perceive racism under different scope of vision 1 Like 1 Share |
