Due to lack of supervision from government, everyone wants to have a house at all cost by giving contact to substandard engineering company.

Officials in the relevant government ministry are busy collecting bribes and allowing such structures to go up.
This last time government went to destroy distress building at alaba, noise makers didn't let us hear word.

Houses wey destroyed several places with no noise not until they got to the resident of noise makers.
Some set of people are going as far to buy canals and sand fill them, i just shake my head because nemesis will catch up on them soon and they scream witch hunt but nothing will happen.

Who gave authorization to start construction in the first place?

When officials of the monitoring unit of the ministry visit construction sites, what are they not seeing?

I don't understand!

The law dey, but Nigerians like short cut and government no dey enforce the law. But one good thing government does is demolish illegal site construction when found.
At times government are force to back down on enforcement due to humanitarian crises and considering the massive damage that would be done to Lgosians if laws were enforced.
We saw what happened at Alaba when few building were brought down.
If i were the governor i will bring down more building down from the whole Ojo since I'm use to that area very well. A lot of building on sandfilled canal.

It's quite an unfortunate uoccurring decimal in Nigeria...the simple and permanent solution is for strong institution creation for this ministry and for now i'm not sure the present political will is competent to enact it.

Wittyness.

How did the guy know the building was collapsing. Like he was prepared for it and had accuracy of time on when it would collapse to have fully captured it.

Poor structural work coupled with substandard building materials. I have it in good authority that yours truly most popular cement brand in Nigeria is below standard. My advice for anyone building, choose the less popular cement brands.

I don't actually understand the kind of Engineers allowed to take charge of a construction site in Lagos State especially sites that the project is more than a storey building...

While I was in Ikorudo , Igbogbo and Festsc town, in my construction sites, I noticed as I checked on the buildings still under construction there that most of the buildings don't have suspended floor Beams.....ie (Decking beams )

And when I asked the Engineers , they told me is not that necessary as most of the buildings there were done so...

Even the Yoruba Carpenter that I used for the Suspended floors I did was amazed and said I was wasting materials, even tried to convince me that nothing will happen if I refuse to put the beams , it was until I lectured him that he gave up....

How can you not run a raft foundation in a building where the site is water logged, ok even to put a ground beam or underground beams is a problem and in the suspended floor stage too, you won't run beams as well....

Very Pathetic anyway .....am never surprised when a building is said to have collapsed in Lagos State....

The 21-storey building on Gerard Road, Ikoyi that collapsed in 2021 with loss of lives, I guess Femi Osibona who was the owner was an Igbo man. cheesy cheesy

Another igbo man, Joshua Okeowo, is the owner of the collapsed Banana Island seven-story building that was under construction. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Who mentioned Igbo ?
Is there any relation between Igbo and illegal structure that made you bring Igbo into this matter?

He must have spent money meant for quality materials settling cornbeef Omoniles, who will ask for payment for every block or sand moved to the site

He employed a quacks to build for him. Imagine the floor slab without a beam. If you building without a beam, then your slab must be designed to a particular thickness to act as a slab which is done mostly in Ikoyi and Lekki. An expensive construction per say, not what we have here

Thank God they already knew that it was about to collapse

All those Ijegun areas are Flood prone ,with very weak Structures and mostly, the Buildings Foundations are very porous- Some parts of Yaba, Iwaya is majorly Waterlogged, some parts of Alaba, some parts of Bariga and Shomolu, most of Isale Eko is in Lagos are water scene!
-Many of these Areas/ places don't even have good Channelisation, where the floods can be emptied!
- let there be Drainages for every Road Construction in Lagos State.
People too are themselves difficult,as they parks most dirts into the rain, thereby blocks the Drainages!
This is Work of KAI in Lagos State but they refused to go to those Areas but are mostly seeing in Collecting Wares in most garrage just for themselves!
-let there be Channels for the water to pass without hindrance!
