What is the responsibility of the committee(NLC inclusive) set up to look into the minimum wage issue? Why are they footdragging and unable to reach a compromise since? To be sincere, subsidy removal should have been met with reasonable wage increase 2months after removing subsidy. I honestly feel for the civil servants and the masses during this period and I wish government can hasten the implementation of the minimum wage since most of the civil servants are not direct beneficiary of the palliatives distributed by the government.

As far as I'm concerned, I see a script playing out here!

I suspect BAT may want to announce new minimum wage in his Oct 1 message to the nation. So this new threat from TUC for TOTAL strike on Oct 3 is playing into it.

Don't be surprised that when the announcement is made on Oct 1, TUC will then calll of the strike because Mr President has performed. Then his handlers a la Ajuri Ngelale will then go to town about how the President has a listening ear and responded promptly to avert a national shut down on Oct 3!!!
