Senate Confirms Yemi Cardoso As CBN Governor by nlfpmod(mod): 7:36pm On Sep 26, 2023

The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Dr Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

Cardoso was screened alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors, to steer affairs of the apex bank in the next five years.

The deputy governors include: Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

Recall that last week, Cardoso resumed as the CBN governor in an acting capacity pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.

Meanwhile, the Senate has also scheduled the screening of two additional ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu for Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

The President, while the National Assembly was on break, appointed the duo of Dr. Jamila Ibrahim and Ayodele Olawande as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths respectively.

Congratulations to the new CBN governor and the newly confirmed Deputy Governors. They have a very serious mess to clean up on the economy and don’t e by them right now. This is not the time for merriment and celebration. They must get to work immediately and come up with policies to rescue the economy.

How they will do it, we don’t know but Nigerians want a miraculous turn around in the economy and that’s what they must do.

I wish him best of luck. I'm an advocate of good governance,.irrespective of party or personality. He has a good resume.

I hope he tackles the fx woes in no time and not tell stories. He's the only appointee of the tinubu administration, whom I personally approve, just like BRF in Buhari's administration. Others are political jobbers.

Under proper economic circumstances, decisive matters involving the apex bank such as this, are supposed to count as positive indicators that will instantly reflect positively on the current standing of the exchange rates.

But Nigeria under APC just dey carry us go where we no know!

I don't envy his position at this time.

Cardoso should get serious with his job and not play to the gallery because the people who are gaining from this economic crisis will keep fighting for things to remain this way.
