/ I wonder if Abuja would have "bend" the way it is if actually the so-called engineers are doing their work. Maintenance crews only exist on paper and collecting salaries for doing nothing. Dilapidated roads, broken street lights, etc and one can't help but wonder what the engineers do in the Ministry. A lot of workers are very comfortable being unproductive. Unemployment is very high. So they must initiate random sack to create room for productive workers to come in to do the jobs. / |

Maybe some of them trekked to work. Some had family issues to resolve involving money. Treat your workers well, get the best services. Now it’s do-me-I-do you. NLC/TUC will strike next week and this aggravates the anger. A - Always P - Punishing C - Citizens |

ryloy: Umuahi goes no where... He has come to stay... Civil servants in Abuja are too lazy to work, many don't even go to work in FCT. I live in Abuja and I know what how it work here. It is high time all ministry wakes up to this call. Bravo to Hon. Minister of Works & Housing Engr. David Umahi, anyone who is ready to work should stay at home. That is why wages should be per hour, and should be automated so that you are only paid for hours you work. And if your incessant lateness to work is disrupting service delivery, your position is offered to a better mind and hand. |

Reasonable Nigerians are solidly behind UMAHI. Without self and group discipline, nothing tangible can be achieved. It's not by force to work for the Federal Civil Service. If you can't toe the line of discipline and responsibility, step aside and let Nigerians who wants to work hard and be responsible take your place. Not everything should be politicized. Politicians come and go, but the future and progress of our country should take preeminence over every other thing. |

seunmsg:But why would they report parents work? Would they do the same if they were working in a foreign land? We can't be desirous of an effective and functional system while insisting on holding unto old and retrogressive attitudes. They should do well to report to work early enough daily. If they don't wanna work, let them turn in their resignation letters. There are people out there probably more competent and willing to do the same jobs even for a lower pay. 2 Likes 1 Share |

badoh:Is locking civil servants outside the gate the punishment prescribed for late coming in the civil service code of conduct? Umahi is doing same wrong thing as the civil servants that came late. Going above or beyond what is prescribed by the rules is same wrong thing. With each passing day, Umahi is proving that he wants to be in the news rather than doing his job. Yesterday he shed tears, today he is locking workers outside |

You are missing the point... why did he lock them out?... but before that you read in the article he was hit ng consultants to do ministry work... lol... you know consultants companies are paid like 4 to 5 times or more per employee based on government worker salary?..... so look at it this way, I a civil servant in your Mahi ministry makes 50000 naira per month, a consultant doing same thing will be paid 250000 per minute nrg for same job.... Lol... the umahi guy don see legal loophole to siphon public money.... hence, this action to leave co people out to justflify more consultants. By the way, did he take or notify ministry union of late workers or just usual cow boy mentally or bull in a China shop mentality. Praxis758: |
