He ordered for replacement (June 27,1997 but on the replacement diploma it was typed June 27,1979) but he didn't pick it up.

The one he submitted to INEC was dated June 22, 1979. In the deposition I saw, they called it INEC diploma for simplicity sake.

I believe here is your confusion. Lemme try and explain below.

Before you forged or redo or whatever you must have a format. Like if someone wants to forge your degree you have to give him/ her the certificate to see the format right?

So the certificate Tinubu gave INEC matches the format of CSU certificate in years like CSU 9, 10 12 and other year but the INEC certificate was not issued to him by CSU.

The only valid argument here like said by others like Android17 and Nihilistjnr is that indeed Tinubu graduated from CSU

I once mentioned here that there is a concept called the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. What the judiciary aims to do is to interpret the law AKA explain the INTENT of the law. Like why the law was actually made.

So why was it a crime to forge a document? To deceive in other to gain an advantage. For e.g If I claim I got my MBA from Stanford rather than Lagos Business School, will I naturally not be able to command a higher salary than otherwise?

When Nigerians forge financial documents or Letters of recommendation to obtain visas or admissions into top schools the intent there was to present oneself at a level to gain an advantage.

One could have argued that an MBA is still an MBA but you and me know that certain colleges and institutions command higher attention A.K.A benefits so the intent is clear as to why anyone will claim they graduated from Stanford rather than LBS.

Now ask yourself what Tinubu had to gain by re-making a diploma in which he did not exaggerate his class of degree or grades neither did he claim to have graduated when he did not? What would be the intent? How was he going to gain an advantage by doing so? That is what the law will check.

Any other conversation people are having here is just a wanton waste of precious time. Same as the junk about going to secondary school or not. As mysterious as those are, they mean little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. It should even add to his credit that he could make something of himself by graduating cum laude from a good institution in the USA - without having the requisite background or training to do so.

That's what should matter.
