You know the funny thing with the so called third party vendors is they act as intermediaries. They don't print certificates of Universities for people, they only act as the agency between the schools and individuals who for one reason or the other are not around to pick it up by themselves.

So that reach out to the schools on the behalf of the students involved, get the certificates from the school and send to the individuals wherever they may be but at a fee. The schools keep records of such cases. So the vendors don't go about printing certificates by themselves for anybody. It is a crime and punishable by the law.

I think it is more about payment. The vendors are there to sell some sort of stamp to the students, that money goes directly to the university. Once the stamp is paid and the firm is filled, the university can then proceed and print the diploma, an operation which takes several weeks apparently. This is just my hypothesis. I agree with you however about the vendor being just an intermediary, anything other than that won't make any sense.

Don't get bogged down by unintelligent people who like to strain at gnats and swallow camels. Let's assume he actually re-made the certificate: do you really think the appearance and design is what will be the nail on his coffin?

I once mentioned here that there is a concept called the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. What the judiciary aims to do is to interpret the law AKA explain the INTENT of the law. Like why the law was actually made. That is the spirit of the law.

So why is it a crime to forge a document? To deceive in other to gain an advantage. For e.g If I claim I got my MBA from Stanford rather than Lagos Business School, will I naturally not be able to command a higher salary than otherwise?

When Nigerians forge financial documents or Letters of recommendation to obtain visas or admissions into top schools the intent there was to present oneself at a level to gain an advantage.

One could have argued that an MBA is still an MBA but you and me know that certain colleges and institutions command higher attention A.K.A benefits so the intent is clear as to why anyone will claim they graduated from Stanford rather than LBS.

Now ask yourself what Tinubu had to gain by re-making a diploma in which he did not exaggerate his class of degree or grades neither did he claim to have graduated when he did not? What would be the intent? How was he going to gain an advantage by doing so? That is what the law will check.

Any other conversation people are having here is just a wanton waste of precious time. Same as the junk about going to secondary school or not. As mysterious as those are, they mean little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. It should even add to his credit that he could make something of himself by graduating cum laude from a good institution in the USA - without having the requisite background or training to do so.

That's what should matter.

Can you make any sense of it? You went to school, graduated, had reasons to request for your certificate from the school, the school issued it, then you didn't pick it only for you to submit another that will always raise questions about it's integrity.

Intelligent people can whittle out fluff first and then zero in to plausible explanations. 1997 was a very precarious time for a NADECO-ist like Tinubu when Kudirat, Rewane etc had been assassinated by Sergeant Rogers that one had to be careful about potentially exposing ones residence. If Tinubu felt that way, he could be disincentivized from picking up his diploma.

That is why the real meat would have been did he claim Toronto when he schooled in Ogbomosho? Did he claim to be a 4pter when no honest institution would have conferred a participation certificate on him?

I don't need to bother my head in speculating when the school gan gan have verified that he went there and graduated from there.

Forget the man's checkered past. He worked for freaking ExxonMobil. I am not sure people know what it means to have worked for (Then Mobil) at the time that he did. You have to be better than Frank Abagnale Jr. to elude the background verification that they would have done on him at the time. Don't ask me how I know. LOL

I don't know of any military training at that level especially in the era when buhari did his military training. Even up to today, the military sends its petsonemnelbto normal universities to get masters degrees. I think that nowadays, some specialised military courses can deliver bachelor's degree, I don't think they can deliver masters as of yet (I may be wrong). But they are few and recent. Military institutions are not there to give soldiers civilian diploma, they are there to teach them the best way to kill, how do you translate that to a civilian diploma?

Even if US War College was not issuing a master's degree at the time Buhari went there to do a training on strategic studies, whatever diploma he was issued at the time will be upgraded to what the school now offers without asking.
