Imagine we have $500billion invested into our economy from FDI for example, no matter the amount of flight, it will still have a positive impact on the economy than not having that FDI. It’s not that Nigerians have that $500billion and we are stopping them from investing it.

FDI brings a lot of economic impacts:

Employement
Revenue through tax
Infrastructural development amongst others.

That's doesn't outweigh the negative of it shrinking your economy

Most of all it make your economy fragile especially when it's substantially high

Let me give you a local example :- imagine all business in South East were owned by foreigners and this security challenge start .... Most would leave and it would crumble the economy

But because South East economy is 98% indigenous controlled most don't even have plan to leave and instead people like me want to invest more in South East

In fact FDI is anti development for a developing nation

FDI only makes sense if the investor relocats ans stays in the place he is investing

For an economy to grow ( money coming in -money going out) >0 ....

It's that simple

So am economy X worth $### ... And investor invests $100 ... The economy of X becomes $###+100

But that same investors takes out $1000 over 5 years in profit

All this being equal the economy would then be $###+100 -$###+1000 ... So the economy decreased by $900 dollars


The best way to grow and economy is to give your people ( that's have show capacity) credit to start to produce a) things you import at a comparative rate b) things you can export

It's not rockets science

Abeg to differ MTN and Stannbic IBTC repatriated Profit, Paid Tax and still dividends to Nigeria, while employing ordinary Nigerian citizen

That is how you rate their contribution and not necessarily dollar flight. If the economy is booming and you have billion $$ rushing into the economy as FDI, MTN will have enough dollar to take out as at when they want.
