ILOVEGARRI:

I met this fraudulent seller call @fuckboys on jiji, where he advertised a working perfect Google pixel 5,upon inspection,I noticed the pixel 5 had a screen gap, which he @fuckboys claimed he knew nothing about, but I know pixel 5 series had screen gap issues which Google themselves replied it was a normal thing and a none issue,so I brought the device at a good deal from him after he gave me his assurances that the phone was working perfectly and I won't have issues.
I gave to an engineer to help seal it back, which the engineer did,I asked from the engineer if he thinks it's a battery issue, but the engineer definitely not a Google expert told me he does not think so.
After a couple of days, the screen gap appeared again, which occured to me that this was a battery issue and not the Google pixel 5 screen gap defect.
I reached out to @fuckboys calmly explaining to him.i gave him a good solution that if refund would be an issue,I would be willing to return the pixel 5,add money on it and get a pixel 7a,he promised to get back to me,he went on all platforms he advertised and mark all the items as sold.called me back to tell me there is nothing he can do for me,that the deal is gone,I even gave him the option to purchase a new battery and fix it,he told me to go to hell.
I reminded him that he assured me the phone was in good working condition and a phone with a bad battery cannot be termed such,he told me i should do my worst, there is nothing he can do.
Later I found out from someone here on nairaland he tried to sell the same pixel 5 to them twice and he was made to know that there was a screen gap, which he denied to me on the first day we met to do the transaction.
@fuckboys is a very dishonest seller, only interested in collecting payment and has no interest of customers at heart after payment has been received.
I know of sellers on this platform who offer excellent after sales service
Based on the fact he knew before hand as regards the issue of the screen gap,but when we met he denied he never knew the screen has gaps.
He is selling uk used pixel 7a for 215k he initially listed for 200k, go anywhere in Nairaland, Facebook and jiji, he is the only one selling for that price, way way below market price, tell me why anyone buying wouldn't suspect a thing or two is wrong with the phone.

Sorry for your loss though.

This is very terrible and dishonest if true and his silence is deafening.
As a learning point for you, never buy a phone based on promises and assurances —only buy for what you can see.
You see a screen gap, you move aside.
120k would've gotten you a 4a 5g which is basically a 5.
Sorry for your loss and thank you for the bringing this to light 🕯️.

Yes,he advertised at 125k,I negotiated to 120k because of the screen gap, which is a good deal indeed,I told him I was willing to take the risk, but not the risk of a bad battery swelling, because he assured me the phone was working perfect and the battery was not the reason the screen separated.
Infact he denied even ever knowing the phone had screen gaps,it was like I was the one that pointed his attention to it.but it was later I got to know in which be admitted when I laid the complaints that 2 nairalander rejected the same phone because of the screen gap.
But a phone with a swelling battery is not something I am willing to risk 120k on.that is more like a scrap device.
Well he called me tonight, threatening to go to his lawyer tomorrow,i would be waiting for his feedback,he can afford a lawyer, but he can't afford a replacement battery or even a refund, telling me fuckboys is the account he used to sells phones and saying I am dragging @ColdXAutoLtd which is the business name,if you intend to clear your name, fix my issues,I would retract my statements.but since this is the only language you understand.we move.
Good riddance.

Nigerians HATE the truth. They also like to collect the best everything for nothing but push bad things to others. The whole country is dying because of our unrealistic, greedy nature.

If you want shiny item with warranty, head on to the new items shop and pay the price for it. Used items are the responsibility of buyer to check and satisfy themselves of its usability. Sellers don't manufactire these things, they also buy somewhere and are subject to same rules. As a seller, I know how much we lose on many of these items. We don't travel abroad to check these items before buying and we certainly aren't going to return item. Some perfectly good items we buy even develop issues due to sitting down for months or years while the Nigerian people are waiting for you to sell it for nearly free. I KNOW!

This idea that buyers are the saints and victims and sellers are the criminals is a crass assumption. Buyers have stolen my items, have given me fake alert and have tried to return my photographic equipments after they have used them to make money. Some sellers have been robbed and injured by buyers. None has been killed yet, thank God. Nigeria is a den of criminals, from top to bottom. The few good ones aren't in a specific named group.

If you are buying an item from a single individual (be it claimed to be new or used or whatever), it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to determine whether you're okay with item or not, BY ANY MEANS. Otherwise, nothing but your GREED is holding you there to buy it. Some buyers have reached that conclusion with me without even travelling to meet and inspect and they thank me when their items arrive by waybill.

I'm not even trying to sell again to this troubled country with trouble people. If they buy, fine. My passport is now out. Even Ghana, Kenya, Senegal better pass this shithole

SELLERS ARE BUYERS TOO. NOBODY WANTS TO LOSE. DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTION/INACTION

True, the phone brand isn't common, the only fear is the screen getting damaged with the way it falls, one would need to order replacement from sites like Amazon be that.
Well, I had to improvise with one like that.

In my opinion your assertion is not completely correct.
I am also a reseller, both brand new and used items.
Yes I know of cases of buyers trying to outsmart sellers.
But as a seller, you have to be honest in all your dealings, even on brand new items we sell, people unbox devices, notice faults, would I tell them to go back to China and meet the supplier?as a seller with a name to protect and expecting more referrals,I would do the needful and offer a replacement.
Same goes to used items too,I verify all I sell before I advertise, and I am pretty sure on eBay where we source most used goods from, sellers are always almost honest in cases of screen burn, gaps, bad battery, there is always a read note warning attached to such deals,it's Nigeria sellers that buy this items and try to repackage as working perfect to buyers,we have seen cases where sellers on purpose put phone on dark mode to cover screen shadows and burns, sellers too are not completely honest in some cases.
now let's use the case above as a scenario, seller gave assurances phone does not have any other faults, and the buyer later noticed a serious defect,or would due diligence also mean the buyer would open the phone completely to check for battery swelling?
if I was the seller,I would find a common ground with the buyer and try to resolve it,the buyer did not confirm the battery was swelled, only a scrupulous seller would leave his customers to hang dry.
I offer excellent after sales service to all items I sell, that is the way my brand works and is why I am built a customer base who can trust me over the years.
So once again your assertion on the matter above is wrong!we have seen cases on these space with people like igemburg going as far as replacing battery for customers,it is not the case he is foolish,it is the case he has a good name to protect and he did that.

I would avoid doing biz with the likes of you if that is the way you operate, cos someone like you once you receive your alert, the buyer is on there own even on new items brought.
even sellers in computer village offer 7-14 days for such defects,so why would someone who claims to be honest online not offer same sir.

That has not stopped us from buying even the most expensive of pixels,
Yes even with tempered glass,a nasty fall would lead to a screen damage,so no one is safe,
The ones the parts are available in Nigeria sef dey spoil,so we can only try to use our phones reasonably.

Truth is nigerian buyers demands too much with little amount, even when they know it's not obtainable, so i understand him, it's also true like you said honestly and sincerity should always be the framework of every business deal so if it comes out in the open you can always clear your name. ✋

Typical buyer behaviour, they try to get the best deal, but I am sure no seller has ever been forced to sell at a price not favourable to them.

Even if we sellers claim we are giving you the best deal, trust me,plus and minus and profit would still be made.

The fact I gave you a good deal does not mean I would sell you a bad item I won't be accountable for.

Honesty and sincerity matters and goes a long way.

The Pixel 7A issue(been following from marketplace)....

The first person that posted it on marketplace, posted it for 170K but it was locked. Then someone posted for 200k the Factory Unlocked( I don't know if they got it from the person selling locked one and unlocked it). I messaged the 200k guy and went to his shop at Adepele street, Ikeja. After testing and checking everything (I factory reset to be sure it's fully unlocked) then I got two with intent to use 1 and resell the other.
The seller I met is not the Uglyboy(compared there contacts) and I think he is the real owner cos he had plenty pieces and showed me receipt of him selling for a fixed price of 200k. He also didn't post on other platforms except marketplace. It's possible Uglyboy was also getting from him cos he's currently sold out too.

I got mine on Monday.(Attached below is my chat with the guy)
