Nigeria's economy is now on a free fall. Everything is collapsing before our eyes. Dollar rate has crossed the 1000 mark and is steadily climbing towards 2000/$. Millions of businesses both big, medium and small are either closing down or struggling to survive. Fuel is now 620 per liter yet subsidy is being paid.

There is absolutely no hope in Nigeria that things will improve any time soon! In other words, there is hopelessness!!

This brings me to what the question of what if.
What if Peter Obi or Atiku Abubarkar had become president instead of Tinubu, would Nigeria have turned out this way?

At what point will Tinubu admit he has failed? Or would he continue to use propaganda to buy time even when there is no hope ahead?

I don't think Nigeria would have been in this terrible situation if Peter Obi or even Atiku is in power. Tinubu isn't a good administrator. Someone that ruled a huge economy like Lagos yet had very little or no legacy in place except corruption and cronyism. Even a goat will do better as Lagos governor. Even if Lagos has no governor, it will still be performing and generating huge revenue because Nigeria's Economy is more or less domiciled there.

Tinubu destroyed our economy when he removed subsidy on his first day and also floated the naira without having serious buffers. I don't think Obi or Atiku would have been that stupid.

Tinubu was battling legitimacy issues and thought he could use severe changes in the polity to cause distraction. Now, it has all backfired. His legitimacy or lack of it has remained in the front burner. He doesn't even seem to have any plans but continues to do trial and error with 200 million Nigerians.

I can explain on his behalf because anyone with common sense already knows subsidy is being paid.

It costs more to produce fuel than diesel yet fuel is 620 while diesel is 1000. Only subsidy on fuel will cause that!

Fuel has remained around 600+ since naira was 600 to a dollar, now it's 1100 to a $ yet fuel remains same price. Only subsidy will cause that!

They claimed that fuel has been deregulized yet only one or two importers imported once and stopped. Since then NNPC is the only company importing fuel. Others abandoned it because they can't import and sell at 600 when it cost them more, so they abandoned it to NNPC who pays subsidy to maintain the price at 620.

Only ignorant people or mischief makers that live on propaganda will believe government isn't paying subsidy.
