Open an eurobond account.( I use FBN Quest) Open a dorm account with standard chattered. Pay in your dollar into your dorm account, transfer it to your eurobond account.

You can also use any other dorm account but you will pay excessive transfer charges.

There is difference between mutual funds and shares


You can buy Dollar fund through Stanbic IBTC Asset Management and not through Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers

I use United capital as well but it's been a while I funded the account since fcmb stopped USD transfer. How do you fund it now?

If you buy direct you will need a minimum of $200,000 and earn up to 8%.

But if you buy the mutual fund you will need $1000 and earn between 5% to 7%. Minimum holding period is between 90 days to 180 days or else you will lose 20% of what you gained or earned

Eurobonds issued by Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and all these struggling African countries are not risk free…where will they see the USD to repay when the time comes

Eurobond is different from the local bond. With the local bond, the government can decide to print more Naira.


There are professional advisers to debt offers, issuing houses, corporate lawyer, Trustee etc for the local sovereign debts these professional advisers are Nigerians and based in Nigeria, for Eurobond these professional advisers are foreigners and not based in Nigeria.


Ask Osun State government during Aregbesola era when the state got funding from the debt market, investors were paid before CBN sent the monthly allocation to the state government
