maasoap: Naturally you are not smart at all. IGR is just a by product of taxation. it is never an indication of Economic prosperity. Per Capita income is the real indicator 2 Likes 1 Share |

Anambra1stSon2:You are so very funny ,IGR is a parameter of judging the growth of an economy ,oyo ogun Lagos are highly industrialised states hence the high level of IGR that comes from within the economy in the south west ,Ekiti is the least industrialised hence the level of IGR is low,you would never want to agree but the south west is the most industrialised region and most condusive for businesses taxes don't make 100% of IGR 4 Likes |

AriyaTV: You are not smart at all. The taxation here in Lagos is more akin to extortionist schemes, that is why there is a problem of multiple taxation in Lagos. Check the real indicator which is the per capita income of Lagos. If you check in the last 8 years it is actually reducing instead of increasing. |

olakraft: In what way if may ask? I dare you to use the real indicator of prosperity which is the GDP and income per capita. Dude ask yourself that despite the high IGR Anambra has a better per capita income and GDP than Ogun. Can you help me explain that? |

jamesversion: Yes, the proximity to Lagos is a factor, but these states also have an internally bustling economy which people like you usually ignore: 1. Ogun state has the highest number of universities in Nigeria 2. The highest number of industries in Nigeria 3. Has a bustling tourism industry (Olumo rock has more visits than a lot of other states' tourist sites). 4. The highest agricultural produce from the southwest comes from these 2 states. (The Ofada rice which is the most expensive in Nigeria is grown in Ogun state). 5. The quarries supplying granite to other parts of the southwest comes from these 2 states majorly. 6. Apart from all the above, Ogun state itself borders Benin Republic, so without Lagos, that's one gallant state on its own. Not everything is "Lagos, Lagos" 5 Likes |

Re: Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Among Nigerian States In 2022 by Irony1: 3:31pm On Oct 24, 2023 |
Omoawoke2: Oga go and bring the GDP list, even Anambra bests Ogun state by far. Again if you are really smart you will see that Lagos Income per capita and GDP has been dropping in the last 8 years. That is why Sanwo Olu and co desperately look for avenues every day via levies and taxations to raise IGR. 1 Like |

Igbos with hypocrisy. If the highest IGR recorded were to be from the southeast, we won't rest You will hear things like the Igbos are the financial life-line of Nigeria. But now that the IGR of the whole southeast is not up to Ogun state, IGR is useless and of no importance 4 Likes |

Irony1: Same way Ondo state has a higher GDP per capita than that of Anambra. We can all pick arguments from where we would win... It doesn't change anything. The discourse here is the IGR of each state, nothing else. 3 Likes |

drmuri:bros looks at this way. you and your paddy are working in the same company but at dft location. your paddy is working at SE and earning 400k a month but you are working in Abuja and earning 1m a month. on paper you look richer than your paddy making 400k in SE. However your rent in abj, cost of transportation, food stuff if you have children, school fees and transport can bring your expenses of that to 800k leaving you with 200k as savings. now ur paddy in SE has his own expenses at 150k meaning he has 250k savings.... are you now better or richer than him? For you to know the success of IGR, you must breakdown to know how much was spent on recurring debts & expenditure, and how much was spent on capital projects or infrastructure. That is why you see a state like Ogun generating what the Entire SE generated but no developments to show for it. bad roads, owed salaries, gratuity & pension... 1 Like 1 Share |
