I believe the NC States can do better if they key into agro-allied and minning. It is their strong suite and will work if the leaders invest in them

Lagos, the champion of effective and multiple taxation. Thanks to Alpha-Beta. If you know, you know.

IGR is not a measure of economic progress. Stop parading ignorance. GDP per capita is the correct measure of economic progress. IGR only shows how the people are taxed. It's a very popular quote that no government can tax itself into prosperity. Heavy taxation is never an economic progress.
Stop displaying ignorance here, I know the angle you are coming from.

IGR is a function of GDP, if a state GDP is low definitely their IGR will be low unless those state governments are giving tax reliefs to few pioneer companies which may be in form of capital allowance or CIT which only Federal Inland Revenue can grant

Not exactly. There is a reason nobody uses this as a metric.

Money can go move a society and none stays in that society
There's no uniform tax, states where indigenous dominate tax low unlike states formal dominate

Lagos should be far more developed than what it is today if not for the cabals that hijacked the state funds. Look at huge billions and ask yourself what have they achieved with it? Closing markets here and there

Lagos has a Blue Rail Line.
A red line is almost complete.

Your state has only red dust.

As much as this is correct, it is not completely true

The way to grow your Per Capital Income (PCI) is to grow your GDP and this can only be done with funds. The government has to make sustainable developments into the various sectors. The government also has to support small and medium scale businesses and attract large scale ones.

How can any government do this? by spending. By building more roads, more rails, more sea access, electricity etc. And this is where IGR comes in.

If a state has an IGR of 10 Billion, how can such a state build infrastructure to develop the economy?

IGR is also a show of how much economic activity is going on as this is why taxes are paid in the first place.

Chai..

Racoon lost it!

...if there are no reasonable activities, how would the money come in the first place?

Money deposit and credit in banks show how economic activity are fairing, some states where indigenous industries dominate tax low unlike states where foreign companies dominate, state like Anambra, Abia are dominated by informal sector unlike Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, FCT and Oyo control by formal sector IGR doesn't measure economy

Any narration to suit your deluded Igbo reasoning. Should we then agree those making significant IGR should stop making the IGR for foolish Igbos like you to be happy ?!

Huge IGR with high poverty rate has little or no benefit to the common man...

That is like Dangote making 1billion dollars in revenue while his children are begging to eat and Dangote keeps telling them to be happy that the family is making huge money.

This is the time for south west to diversify their economy toward complete production. We cannot be living in multitude and continue to suffer. We have not been sufficiently feeling the impact of this internal generated revenue. What this governors are doing with the money is not yet known. Only Adeleke of Osun state is somehow transparent enough. Others are nowhere to be found.
How is Adeleke the most transparent??

Lagos is a giant in Nigeria's commercial landscape, so I won't even go there. But what surprises me is the performance of the so called "brown roof" states of Ogun and Oyo.

Ogun state alone has a higher IGR than the entire South East and the entire North Central with the exception of FCT.

Oyo has IGR higher than 3 SE states and 4 North Central states.

Keep playing... 😎

Oyo and Ogun are benefitting from proximity to Lagos. Remove Lagos IGR and the SWest drops from 1st position.

I always wonder the economic activity ongoing in FCT to warrant such IGR.
