We hope for the day where the mouth behind this stupid speech will say 'we'd want our salaries to reflect the current situation on ground, the minimum wage is bad thing for our heavy pockets too'

Nigeria is exhausting.

Lol, the vehicle is not the issue for me in this report, nor the cost, but the defence that the vehicle supplier could add 25% margin to the open market cost of the vehicle, I thought a bulk purchase would attract a discount which will make the buyer (NASS) pay lesser than the open market value
E tire me oh!
Government that even has access to the dollar at official rate.

"The 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser price starts at $94,301 for the base GX trim level and goes up to $143,101 for the top-of-the-line Sahara ZX trim level. All Land Cruisers come standard with a 3.3L V6 twin-turbo diesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission."

As of this exact time of writing this post, $143,101 is ₦123,138,410.

Piss off!!!

Make Nigeria Politics less lucrative and see best brains in it and see Nigeria sanitised in all facets.

They come to earn, they didn't come to serve.

If Teachers take home pay rise to 250k, 500k and 1m as these "Rubber Stamp" men proposed; don't be astonished you will begin to see "Junks" in the field.

Till date, Teaching is still a noble profession.

This defence is so lame, especially the bad roads part.
If you're spending so much to repair your cars whenever you visit your constituents, why not pass a bill to that effect or contruct better roads as your constituency project🤔🤷

That’s if they are paying cash instantly..
But been owed for 3yrs..oga 25% margin us too small…
E go pay me to keep my money for fixed deposit for 3yrs than the hassle of supplying..

Added to what you're saying , can you see that the choice of the Toyota Land cruiser , which is a costlier option , is due to the bad roads which they have awarded over inflated contracts for and are still poorly constructed. We are finished in this country

Even if it was "justifiable" the timing is so so so very very wrong!!! How do you explain to the average Nigerian that is struggling to eat that a government official is buying #160 million naira car? Hooooooooowwwww? angry angry
Poor Nigerians love thier oppressors and see nothing wrong in what these people are doing to them ..If you think I am lying, let that very senator drive that expensive car to his constituency, if thesame people won't be the ones that will start hailing him and bowing down in total respect to either seek his favour or get acknowledged. Nigerians are peculiar Africans.. We love suffering and rather die eating the crumps from thier oppressors table than fight for a better country .

As in
The explanation just played dem out
How can u buy in bulk and mot dealing directly with the manufacturers?
Becos u know the users of the 160m vehicles will still pocket 60m to approve the cars from the local supplier.

The painful part is their story to justify their reason to buying that much expensive cars boils down to the effect of damage nigerian roads can cause a brand new car in 4 yrs
I dey reason fate of the masses with cars of 10yrs old and older
Their maintenance cost in 2yrs
