Jesus Christ was asked two questions based on claims He made in the first part of the same chapter.

Question #1: Tell us when these things — when the temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed, and every stone will be thrown down to the ground with not one stone will left on another.” — will happen
The information found in verse 23 through the rest of the chapter applies as far as Question #2 which concerns the coming back of Jesus Christ, and as you can see, the false messiahs and prophets arrived beginning from the time of the destruction of Jerusalem, and they have continued since then and will until the time of the return.

Many people thought Jesus talked about the generation he was, they thought the prophesy did not come to pass. JESUS talked about the fig tree which means israel. He talked about the rebirth of Israel. Israel was dormant for almost 2000 years and where scattered around the world, their Rebirth took place in 1948, they became a nation. Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are accomplished" (Matthew 24:34).
■ It means the generation that witness the Rebirth of Israel shall see or witness these things. The generation that sees the formation or Rebirth of Israel will witness the return of messiah.

Open your eyes to see that Jesus Christ was still talking to his disciples who had asked Him the two questions at the beginning of that same chapter. Are His disciples alive and breathing in the land of the living today? Or where were they in 1948? Why would you assume He had to have been talking of some sort of rebirth for Israel when even Jesus Christ did not meet the Nation of Israel at the time He came to the world?( The Nation of Israel had already been scattered by God over 500 years before Jesus Christ.)

What Jesus Christ said of the fig tree is in reference to the events that began(most of which took place) during the same time in which His disciples lived.
