I cannot over emphasize the importance of having a support system.
When u tell people do Ajo, or join cooperative they will say "I can save my money by myself" or "I no want make person chop my money"
Nothing good comes easily in life. It is our lives choices, plans and strategy that makes it look easy.

Ajo is very important ooo, I have introduced over 4 drivers close to me to my Ajo coordinator and they always come back to thank me...

If nah 2k you fit engage everyday, pls do and always collect last as I do advice people.

I no dey ever collect Ajo early cox collecting it early is like borrowing money to me but last is a savings and you can comfortably use it to do something meaningful without having in mind to pay back again...

Bad advice. The first person to collect in any ajo is always the winner. If he collects 20k in January and you collect 20k in June, he will do more in January with the 20k than you will do in June due to inflation.

If I must do ajo, it's number one or nothing.

Different strokes for different folks at different times. He just told u he prefers doing Ajo as savings rather than as taking a loan. Sometimes collecting last as savings is gold, sometimes collecting early and investing it is perfect. Targeting a particular month or week which u will need the money is best.

Collecting early and investing is always perfect. It is a zero interest loan. There's no where in the world and no one who knows anything about money that will pass away a zero interest loan for savings.

For lack of a better word and I apologise, it's financial illiteracy.

There's a reason people will have money with an investment bank and then use the money they have as collateral to obtain a loan despite having to pay interest on the loan. Imagine people like that coming in contact with a 0% interest loan.

If you must do ajo, the only thing that makes sense is to collect number one. Else, put your money in any mutual fund of your choice

U dey like form financial analyst but u ignore many other variables in life. Not everything works in real life as it is written in textbooks or class theories. u can't always guarantee the ROI in the money u will collect and invest.
Like I said Ajo is done for several different reasons; Some people want to collect last and first in the next round to gather enough money for whatever purpose.
Some people will never save that money if it wasn't for ajo, so taking last will just help them meet the target.
Sometimes u just want to pay ur rent or buy appliances. It's not always only for investment oga financial guru.

Exactly, do not mind that dude, saying last is bad advice, I have a brother who likes taking early and everytime he takes early, it becomes a big burden for him, now he has resulted in collecting last as a means of savings and after collecting he will know that's his money and not people's money...

Early is only good if you have plans and if the money will be enough to do what you plan for but if not, take last and take early to get enough for the plan...

Then collect the money and tie it down with something. You can use it to buy as many bags of rice and keep. When you need the money, sell it. Even if you don't keep up with inflation, you'll be in a better state than someone who simply queued up to collect the last ajo.

Just saving up with the current inflation just makes no sense. If you still can't see it, I really can't help beyond this point.

You're not making sense. If it's to just pay your rent, collect number one, invest it, when it's time to pay your rent, withdraw and you'll still have your earned interest to do other things. That is wisdom.

If you can't invest, tie the money down in something that can be easily sold. Bag of rice 6 months ago was 40k or so. Anyone who collects number one of 120k 6 months ago and uses it to buy three bags of rice, sells it now at 53k per bag will have 159k while someone else is just collecting his own 120k. And they are doing the same ajo.

I'm not against doing ajo so I don't get where some people cannot save without ajo is coming from. Sometimes you just go off tangent.

And you can always guarantee your ROI. If you don't know, ask questions.

Lastly, I have never claimed to be a financial guru. I'm still learning and still have a whole lot to learn. I advice everyone to get some financial education. It will make you understand and see things differently.

Lolz, look at the instance you even gave, by rice and preserve cheesy

So you will rather take money early to buy rice and preserve rather than saving it in ajo...

Anyway, whoever wants to go with your idea is free, as for me, last is preferable, then I can take early for next if I have better plans for it...

It was just an example to show that the money can be tied in commodities for people who say they can't invest. The result is more or less the same.

Ajo is community effort...people chipping in a certain amount for each other.
U should be open to taking any position from time to time. Saying u will only accept first or nothing always is not wisdom, it is being selfish, self-centhered and greedy.
The people taking last arent fools, or financial illiterates. What happens if everybody only wants early number Am not against carrying first, but saying if u carry last or anyother position asides first means the person lacks financial acumen is nauseating.
We all have to have a sense of social responsibility for the society to grow.
Channel ur financial acumen to banks and investment firms and leave ajo patrons alone.
