Somehow, it works. I can't explain the myth or theory supporting it.

The white thread serves as a form of distraction for the child’s brain.
As silly as it may sound, the distraction helps to reduce hiccups.

Children as you know are naturally curious. And placing the white thread on either their forehead or hair triggers some sensation that the child may want to know and find ways to adapt.

So the brain direct its activity or concentration towards finding out the new thing on the head. And that tricks the phrenic and vagus nerves to act towards that.
That combination of concentration and distraction cause by the white thread as noted help reset the brain to stop or reduce the number of hiccups.

Sounds logical.

It is not an unusual sight. Somehow, they think it works. What I know that works is taking (tasting) a very little bit of salt when one's eye is smeared by peppery source to dissolve the pain and free the eyesight in seconds. Works wonders.

It works, although it has no scientific connection, it's more of faith. It works anywhere. Ask God the science behind it.

My parents does similar things to say AMEN when I remember them and I believe in that theory.
It solidify love that your parents blessed your undertakings and it helps me to focus on my skills knowing that I am being blessed.
