I agree with her, The NWSL is a more competitive league yes because the Athleticism is more demanding unlike the Spanish League that is more Tactical…

Cut Nicole some slack. She’s still a kid playing with a club side consisting of some of the very best players in the world. She is tracking very well for her development. Took a bit for Imuran to debut but see how well she has progressed so far. Congrats to Nicole on her debut! Deltamani: |

Deltamani:In this case, I don't think Nicole is the problem. She is probably a victim of the coach's style (I'm speculating). Asides the fact that she's playing in a club with some of the best players in that world, some coach's ranks experience higher and would rarely give new bloods opportunities. We can only reach the conclusion of her need to step up should she be given a run of games and she doesn't deliver. It's like Vicky Lopez in Barcelona too, she was a starter in Madrid CFF but only features a few times for Barcelona. It's really not an indictment on her game, there are just more experienced and preferred players ahead of her. |

Deltamani:One thing for sure again is that the teams are tightly matched, with last season's last place finisher the new champion, and most games have been closely contested. |

| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 3:13pm On Nov 14, 2023 |
Coach of the year Desiree Ellis on account of what? WAFCON was last yr - she hardly did a damn thing this year. Okay, SA made it to the rd of 16. But they lost to all the top 10 teams they played. Randy played 3 top ten teams and didn’t lose a single game in regular time. That was way more difficult than SA’s path. lovewins: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 3:16pm On Nov 14, 2023 |
This shouldn’t even be a debate. Not a single one of the others played every single minute of the WWC and excelled. Demehin all the way! daveP: |
| Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 3:22pm On Nov 14, 2023 |
Again, what was Ellis’ body of work in 2023 that makes her more deserving of Coach of the yr? Nigeria had a way more challenging path in the WWC than any other African team and left due to penalties. We played 3 top 10 teams, 2 of whom made it into the semifinals (England and Australia). Randy definitely performed much better than Ellis. Not even close! daveP: |

AkinDS:It's the CAF award and it will take primarily into account the previous WAFCON (2022/2023 season). Don't forget that the last award that Oshoala won took place during WAFCON so it didn't factor into the 2021/2022 awards. Also, irrespective of how she got there, she achieved same feat as Randy at the World Cup and beat Randy twice (Aisha Buhari and WAFCON opening game) when they met. It's a no brainer, she gets the award over Randy. |

AkinDS:Ellis won the AWCON in 2022 and this is 2022/2023 season. As for team of the year, it could be either of Nigeria/SA/Morocco. Team of the year ranking (according to me) 1) South Africa (for winning AWCON) 2) Nigeria (for finishing 10th at World Cup) 3) Morocco (finished runners up at AWCON and also reached group stage at World cup debut in a group that had Germany and South Korea) 4) Zambia (third at AWCON, got first World cup win, beat Germany 3-2 in a friendly) 5) Malawi (winners of COSAFA that involved SA and Zambia) 6) Ghana (unbeaten streak this year albeit against average african teams so far). |
