HIJACK HORROR Israel cargo ship Galaxy Leader ‘hijacked by Iran-backed militia’ in Red Sea with up to 52 people on board

AN ISRAELI-owned cargo ship has reportedly been hijacked by an Iran-backed militia group.

Up to 52 people are reported to have on board the Galaxy Leader vehicle carrier when she was seized.

It comes after the Houthis - based in Yemen - vowed they would target all ships owned by Israel or flying their flag in the Red Sea.

Israeli officials confirmed the rebels had taken over the ship that is partially owned by one of their companies, according to Axios.

However, the IDF went on to deny the ship was Israeli.

The exact ownership of ships is often difficult to discern due to various different companies owning stakes in or leasing the vessels.

Various media outlets have reported the ship is owned by Israeli shipping businessman Rami Ungar.

The nationality of the crew remains unknown - but Israel has insisted they have no nationals on board the ship.

Galaxy Leader reportedly had not reported its position to ship tracking services for 26 hours.

The Bahamas-flagged vessel is believed to have been in the Red Sea when it was attacked by the Houthis.

Lebanon-based outlet Al Mayadeen reported there were 52 people on board the ship when it was seized.

Other reports stated the number of crew was 22.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said: "The hijacking of the cargo ship by the Houthis near Yemen in the southern Red Sea is a very serious event on a global level.

"This is a ship that left Turkey on its way to India with an international civilian crew, without Israelis."

But he insisted the ship was no Israeli.

Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi threatened to seize shipping in a rant last week.

He said: "Our eyes are open to constantly monitor and search for any Israeli ship in the Red Sea."

The group's spokesman said they would issue a statement in the coming hours after the reports of the hijacked ship.

The rebel group have made several missile and drone attacks against Israel since the massacre by Hamas on October 7.

They control Yemen and its coast along the Red Sea.

It is widely believed they receive support from Iran - and often operate as one of its proxies.

Everyone is just angry and not taking definite actions to immediately stop the killing of defenceless babies, children and women by the Israeli army.

Yemeni Houthi is not different from Hamas and Hezbollah; they are all people who have never seen peace. Any war with Yemen will affect Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabia will not want another Iran-proxy war in their backyard. Check my signature for free stuffs!

Most Isrealis have dual or triple citizenship hence holding them captive is an invitation to war. Even Palestinian Americans and others with dual citizenship were airlifted from Gaza to their adopted countries.

Arabs should not be looking for trouble.

Prominent Arab countries are leaving Palestinians and forging ahead for a future relationship with their cousin brother Israel.

See what a prominent Arab said this week. It is time to surrender and move ahead. Palestine is an Islamic project but it didn't work out.

Arab, I say that we MUST lose and surrender, soonest. Successful nations are the ones who know when to lose and when to win. Japan became the closest ally of America who struck it with two atomic bombs. Japan hosts US military bases (occupation?) until today. So did Germany, Italy, and South Korea. People die to live in these countries that lost, surrendered, conceded, and became best friends with their past enemies.

Enough is enough! Hamas should surrender. The Palestinian Authority should be disbanded, all its leaders should retire. Erdogan should have said that 30 years in power had gotten to his head and made him crazy. Qatar's insecurity of "look at me," promoting death and destruction, should come to an end. Iran mullahs should go back to mosques, lead the believers in prayers only, and let Iranians who know how to run governments take over and put an end to a regime that's delusional, messianic, and crazy.

Palestinians should settle for local councils of self-government, at most, and enjoy having Israel offer them a great economy to benefit from and a good infrastructure. Gaza only lost electricity 40 days ago. Wealthy Baghdad spent its sweltering summer without electricity. Impoverished Lebanon produced 13 percent of its electricity need at best, and that's only thanks to Iraqi oil gifts.

Enough is enough! Enough with Palestine! Enough indigenous! Enough with imagined colonialism! Live and let live. Make immediate and unconditional peace with Israel now, and by now I mean yesterday.

The ship reportedly captured by the Houthis in Yemen has a very tenuous Israel connection.

It is owned by a British shipping company and was leased to a Japanese company.
The British company is partially owned by Israeli shipping magnate Rami Ungar.

There are no Israelis aboard.

And its capture will have no direct impact on the Israeli economy.

Even so, the Houthi rulers of Yemen have set a dangerous precedent.

If ISRAEL decides to Hit them , they will begin to scream UN, WHO, UNICEF, children etc.

No one will cry to UN now. However when Israel responds some persons will go to the morgue to display long death bodies and claim they died of Israeli bombardment.

Nobody will condemn this action now but once Isreal face them now, you will start hearing genocide up and down. Their host country won't talk, until Isreal begin to attack their base. Then escalation talk will start surfacing.
Isreal will respond in action and not only by words.

They are always ready for the consequeces.Everybody cannot be cowards. Some people are ready to die in their resistance if need be.
That is resistance for you.
Some people call it terrorism so that those been tortured, killed, laid siege on by state
actors can be in slavery forever.
South Africans would have been under Apartheid till date if some people didn't fight to emancipate the blacks. They fought and died for the freedom seen by the blacks in SA today.
The world calls GAZA the biggest open prison in the world.Israel are the imprisoners.
No occupied force gives you freedom easily, people fight and die for it.
I formerly thought that Hamas were terrorists ( well,I still think a little because of the unprovoked killings and kidnapping of Oct. 7) but I made research into the cause,I almost cried.Israel has been torturing, killing, maiming, blockading, imprisoning, terrorising these people for 76 sordid years even with the UNO and US,EU begging them to accept 2 states solution.
I beleive,Israel is a terrorist state in this time and clime to be doing this to a whole people.
What Israel is doing now is moulding more terrorists.
Killing them does not guarantee peace for Israel. The cycle will just continue.

The Houthis earlier announced a naval blockade of Israel and have warned all Israeli-owned, managed, or based ships not to sail around the Arabian peninsula. This particular ship belongs to an Israeli billionaire, Rami Ungar, who got rich by supporting sanctions against several Middle Eastern nations.

He is close to the Israeli government and Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad. He has often funded Mossad and given loads of money to Mossad's chiefs, which has always generated controversy, even in Israel.

With the backing of the Israeli government, he would often approach ships and logistic businesses working with sanctioned Middle Eastern countries and tell them to work with him instead. That's how he got rich. He saw this coming.

In the meantime, CNN has exposed that Israel planted weapons at Al-Shifa: https://www.nairaland.com/7915733/cnn-says-israel-may-rearragned
