Egwusi is a corruption of the Yoruba word egusi. Ibos dumped their own word enini or elili. Same way they are dumping their region for the SW grin
You can't even happily celebrate with them but you must bring your useless tribal bashing into everything.
Guy are you sure you're mentally stable? This your obsession is turning into something else

Nice outing. I see they thoroughly enjoyed themselves despite all the hate and anger that was directed their way by tribalist ibos. Some tribalists were even saying they would give IPOB'S UGM the location of the Amala celebration. The fools should hide their face in shame.
Let's be honest, tribalism is the forte of the Yorubas though you guys try to pretend it's not. Your clannishness is the reason you keep supporting useless leaders
Even Sanusi, a northerner, knows this

I don't know which tribe owns egusi oh... But I can't lie that Igbos cook it better.

Yorubas should just hold amala and ewedu... Which is also one of my favorite.

You don't have to care you just need to have common sense to get the simple point. You can't that Egusi originated from one particular place when it is widely eaten both within Nigeria and across West Africa.

If you insist, simply present the evidence. Simple.

We are talking about the soup not other edible stuff you can prepare with it. It's you that needs the common sense, not running from pillar to post instead.

We are all talking about soup. I said they eat theirs with rice instead of swallow. That doesn't make it less of a soup. In Gambia they eat soup with rice generally.

Learn how to read a simple sentence . I never said, they mix ila and egusi. Ijebu Egusi soup is a native soup, prepare only with egusi.
ila alasepo is mix okra soup, prepared with fresh seafood or any kinda of dried fish, excluding egusi.....
Is that simple enough for you now?

A 1 canopy backyard cookout of 20 people caused all of this noise? How many Yoruba people are eating Egusi as I type this?

You're so ignorant. Yoruba people eat more egusi than any tribe in West Africa. You hardly prepare okro, ewedu that would not be combined with gbegiri, water leaves , Indian spinach, coco yam and almost all other vegetables without putting egusi. Egusi soup is common in Yoruba land that it's given a name , OSHIKI when cooked alone. And nobody cooks hibiscus fruits ( ishapa) without egusi. You people are so ignorant , bigotted and cheap-minded that you glory in all manner of frivolities..

LOLZ. Enugu is so full of cemeteries that there's even no place to establish a good eatry where the most nutritious and delicious food is sold, except a cemetery : thanks to Ekpa and his Ibo-killer gang.

No be Igbo get Egunsi.
Egunsi is never Igbo word have been saying this for years on this forum. You were born and raised listening people calling it "Egunsi" for the meaning of Egunsi to be completed you must not remove the "n" Ugwu" is not Yoruba even though Yoruba people call it Ugwu.

You didn't event Egunsi. The name itself is Egunsi not Egusi.

It was derived from its shape cos it looks like Egun (thorn)

Dialectal variant. Egusi isn’t even particular to just Nigeria.

I just told you the correct name. Same way you called/misspelled boli (roasted plantain) as bole, miss pronounced Aṣọ̀ ẹbi as Asebi and spell MoinMoin as moimoi

In yoruba land, these names don't just exist, they have source and meaning where they are derived from. Hope you know that Yorubas exist outside Nigeria

Morphinne:

This is another blatant lie and you are ultimately confirming or rather rephrased what your kinsmen were claiming earlier after you realized they were very wrong.
They earlier claimed that egusi was invented by the ibos—an erroneous claim that was later busted because egusi in Igbo language is not even called egusi but eliri (I’m not sure I got the spelling right) and many other igbos confirmed it to be a borrowed word.
It’s very wrong to say you invented a particular food that is and was being eaten by a vast number of people across different cultures and races and mind you, other tribes are only being defensive here because your kinsmen started this claim as a result of their shameful insecurity and low self-esteem because in Yoruba land and so many other regions, nobody would be mad or give a f*uck over other people’s decision to host a hangout celebrating Oha soup and Apku in the heart of Oyo or Kaduna. I won’t feel threatened over the plan of a group of youths to celebrate tuwo shinkafa or fura di nunu in Lagos or Ile Ife in Osun and in fact, I and many of my tribesmen would gladly join in celebrating with them without harboring the slightest of hate.
The events that preceded this very amala hangout is shameful to say the least. Why are you people pained Chinedu? I was even concerned about the safety of the people who would attend the gathering. Come on, ibos could have done better, It’s just an ordinary food, it doesn’t bite na grin

Why did quote me to type nonsense ?
