Government is the people . People are good and bad . There is no misleading here . It was either lack of due diligence or bribery and corruption . Either way , it is against the law.

Eg . If you get to a traffic light at red . You know you are not to move , but you give the traffic warden 50 Naira and drive through then you have an accident or road safety catches you , will you sue or blame the government ?

Government officials or enforcers accepting bribe doesn’t change the law. You only have rogue officials . And they are also breaking the law by accepting or soliciting bribes . Why all of a sudden after the flawed elections Lagos now realised that properties in the streets where Igbos dominate has one issue or the other and now the Tinubu led Federal govt has asked the FHA to go to festac and demolish properties there,simply because a certain people has most of the properties there.
I can assure you that Igbos are very tough people and in difficult conditions,they strive better and there is always positivity in every situation. It is now motivating a lot of Lagos Igbos whom use to think that they where at home with the cowardly Yorubas, to now start investing massively back home. I got to Akwa last month and it was a massive construction site,meaning more money and employment for home boys.Thats exactly the way to go.
I am sure Igbos got the message sent by Yoruba authorities and at the appropriate time they will be paid back.

Outright demolition does not serve any purpose. I don't know why people cannot think things through.

FHA means Federal Housing Authority. Housing, people Housing. If it was a parcel of land that belongs to FAAN or NRC or NPA, then there will be some element of justification for the outright demolition. Maybe a runway or rail track will run through the land. Something for the common good.

This is a HOUSING authority that was established to provide affordable housing for the citizens. So, they will now issue the land to someone else to build another house on it or what!.

This demolition stinks. Let's take away tribe from it. I would still hold this opinion if the houses demolished were owned by people from Borno or Adamawa. THE OUTRIGHT DEMOLITION IS A WICKED ACT.

Most of the people whose properties were demilished know that their building is illegal and not approved. The FHA told them, marked their houses but they ignored warnings and painted over the markings.

They felt they are above the law and NOBODY APPROVED THEIR CONSTRUCTIONS. The feeble attempt to turn this into a tribal fight is a waste of time

NO. They do not. It's the Abuja town planning authority on orders of the minister. Not the FHA.

I have not heard of FHA demolishing a fully completed and occupied building anywhere in Nigeria. The Lagos state govt simply hid behind the FHA lagos office to carry out this wicked act.

The officials that demolished the buildings did not come from Abuja. They came from round the corner with clear instructions from Lagos state government officials. We all can remember the threat made at the floor of the Lagos state house of assembly with regards to Igbos in Lagos.

You misinterpret the meaning of government in your explanation.

Those corrupt individuals are government employees that enabled corrupt activities.

At the time, they were representative of the government not just a mere citizen.

They should have done better by enforcing the laws which they signed off on.

If someone ran a red light and the driver offers them a bribe.. the correct thing to do is to reject the bribe and possibly arrest the offending individuals for breaking the law and obstructing the law.
