And it is historical. The Nigerian movie industry started in Western Nigeria. Specifically, it was pioneered by Chief Herbert Ogunde, who started making movies in 1944. And if you adjust for inflation, Aiye, which he did in 1972, is probably Nigeria's biggest-grossing movie.

If you say film piracy is controlled by some people, you will be factually correct. Let's leave it at that.

As for the Hausa and Fulani, they run the most critical industry. Agriculture. Something like 75% of the food grown in Nigeria comes from the North, of which the Hausas dominate the North's agricultural sector. Igbos are not into professional movie making that's a fact. The movie listed by Reno are mostly done by true professionals not your typical Igbo movie maker nor Yoruba movie makers.
