You need to read more history

Slavery was a business

Infact booming business, war is just one of the numerous factors of being enslaved

Anybody can capture anyone and sell such person to slavery

The Igbos and Akwa ibomites that ended up in the Americas, was it Fulani and Yoruba war that took them there?

Ask questions
Arochukwu controlled slave trade on the Bight of Biafra

I support you 1000 per cent. If you watch Jagunjagun ( fillm by Adebayo Salami) the role of Oshodi Tapa ( from Nupe)to the King of Lagos was clearly displayed. There was a ritual that kings of those period do offer, but the King must not speak out. when such king wanted to pass instructions to his subjects, he whispers to an appointed servant called Oodi/odi (opposite) of the King, then the "OOdi" will speak out to the subjects. In another word, the OOdi was a loudspeaker for the king till the ritual was done.
This person is called Odi Oba (opposite of king)

The word OOdi, was corrupted to be Oshodi, later.

His Ancestor, Oshodi Tapa was a Nupe slave, manumissioned by one Oba Of Lagos (Eleko then)

It wasn't that there were indigenous Tapas in Lagos, this man Oshodi Tapa was a slave brought to Lagos from Nupe land...

Correct!

Note:
Ashipa worked for Oba of Benin.
Ashipa was the first Leader (Baale for Isale Eko), then King of Lagos
Oba Ado was Son of Ashipa.
Ashipa was a Yoruba titled chief from Isheri (Awori Kingdom)

In your cowardice mind, Igbos should pay for what the Oba of Benin said?

Exactly
Wnat is the purpose of his statement

Well, just like many other disgruntled elements including Igbos, the Benin man had to let out his concealed inner thoughts, bitterness and frustration in life because they all want Lagos but they cannot have Lagos so they say dumb and stupid nonsense because they know they cannot have Lagos and the fact that Lagos is a Yoruba state and solidly belongs to Yoruba people, brings out their anger and frustration.

All the talk about Lagos and the history of Lagos is irrelevant and meaningless because when you wake up tomorrow, and till eternity, Lagos shall remain a Yoruba state in the SW, ruled and governed by Yoruba people and if Nigeria separates, Lagos shall remain a Yorubaland in the SW, not part of SS, biafra or the North.

People are free to spew whatever rubbish they desire, it's just nonsense and irrelevant trash.

The way you people beat chest like gorillas always put you in trouble at the end, una no too get sense like that.
And one will think igbos have bought half of Lagos but in the reality, the percentage of land owned by igbos in Lagos no reach 5%. All na mouth
Go and check landlord associations in Lagos, how many igbos do you see there? How many Igbo landllords are in Lagos?
And the day Nigeria eventually divides, you know every well that igbos automatically lose anything they have in Lagos. So the little you have is borrowed to you not even owned

Comedy indeed

Apart from Wikipedia which declared Oshodi Tapa as a slave from Bida who lost his parents at the age of six,.......then served the King Eshilokun as his servant, ....... later in life, due to his loyalty, talents, smartness and peace loving attitude, even though he was a warrior, became a great rich man with power and influence, and humility and great loyalty.

That Oyo Tapa is in between Igboora and Igangan....so those people are from Nupe...no wonder they look like Nupe people

Iamgrey5:
Lol Nupe slave?

Oh so you don't know that know that just like Benin wandered into Yoruba land in precolonial times, the Nupe our neighbors to the north did the same and vice versa.

There are towns in Oyo State settled by Nupe known by Yorubas as Tapa.
