He really didn't have to join that inglorious bandwagon, he diminished himself and rubbished his position with that comment especially right in front of his gracious host, which was so insulting, degrading and rewriting your host's history in his face.

Does it mean there are indigenous Nupe people in Lagos?

There are indigenous Benin people in Lagos?

There are indigenous Braziliana in Lagos too?

There are indigenous Yorubas in Lagos!

he said tapa..... Nupes don't refer to themselves as tapas... It's a Yoruba name given to them.... I knw dis because I grew up in Niger...so d Nupes settled in lagos, hence d balogun title given to them... If u go to kwara also, you'll see balogun fulani that trace their ancestry to d fulani tribe... So saying Nupe benin are indigenous is very wrong... They are foreigners who settled in lagos... That's what d man is trying to say...

Ashipa is an Awori man married to a Benin woman. Their son became the first oba of Lagos island.

According to you, since the British came in and colonize Nigeria, that means that the British are the aboriginals of Nigeria.

When. The late Oba of Benin , Oba Erediawa was still alive, this present Oba was an ambassador outside Nigeria but some history attached though to him. The Oba shouldn't have said all of these. Can he defend what he said? Did he learn enough history from his father?

His Ancestor, Oshodi Tapa was a Nupe slave, manumissioned by one Oba Of Lagos (Eleko then)

It wasn't that there were indigenous Tapas in Lagos, this man Oshodi Tapa was a slave brought to Lagos from Nupe land...

Oshodi Tapa was a slave who travelled to Brazil to study the slave economy and became a slave master and political leader in Lagos, it was Oshodi Tapa who defended Lagos against British invasion.

In all of these, the truth is finally coming out. Lagos was founded by others who are noiseless rather than a group of loud mouths running around beating their chests and threatening to expel others who came to Lagos just the same way they did.

Dem go cry taya today now that the truth has come out in the open.

Re: Ownership Of Lagos; Balogun Of Eko Abisoye Oshodi Responds To Oba Of Benin by lozanni(m): 3:38pm On Nov 28, 2023
From previous readings I have made, Lagos belongs to the Aworis who originally migrated from Ile Ife.
However, along the line the Aworis faced wars from different groups like the Egbas etc and therefore invited the Benin Kingdom to come to their aid.
The Benin warriors settled in Eko (Eko means war camp in Benin Language).
The Benin Kingdom then established other war camps to ward off invaders from attacking Lagos Island and the mainlands.
There were war camps at Oshodi (read about or watch the 1897 invasion of the Benin Kingdom and you will find out that Oshodi was the Generalissimo of the Benin Kingdom), Ojota (The shooting range), Obanikoro and Bazuaye (now called Bajulaiye in Shomolu).

The current Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu has stated in the past that the first Oba of Lagos was originally from the Benin Kingdom ( Google this to read more about it)

Thus, the correct position, I think, should be that the Aworis founded Lagos, but the linage of the current Oba of Lagos is from the Benin Kingdom.

Note: I am neither an Awori indigene or from Benin Edo state.

The Fulanis and Yoruba civil war is what led to the capturing of Yorubas in Yoruba land. It was even on record that the British had to call a meeting of Yorubas in Lagos in the early 1990s to settle the dispute of that civil war

However, what is the reason Nupes will be captured as slaves and sold in Yorubaland even when thriving Nupe communities exist all over Yoruba land before colonial period.

Nupes captured their fellow Nupes and sold them to Yorubas in Lagos for onward sale to Europe that's why you have some Nupe slave left over in Oshodi

Why na only ibos dey always dey against Yorubas? When Atiku went to CSU for a fishing expedition, all of a sudden ibos took it personal and were all over the cyberspace crying more than the bereaved. Did you see Hausa-Fulani calling Tinubu names? Did you see any Hausa-Fulani promising brimstone and fire if Tinubu is not removed from power?

Now, show me one Bini person on nairaland shouting about what his oba said, NONE! But immediately the oba erroneously said what he said, all ibo mongreals crawled out and went all out, all over Instagram, twitter and nairaland spewing thrash in their typical stupidity of an enemy of an enemy must be a friend.

When lagos state assembly enacted the Yoruba language protection Bill, which mandated Yoruba language to be spoken in all government establishments, you ibos out of 400 tribes in nigeria started protesting and calling lagos a no man's land.

We might not know our friends, but ibos? You have made yourselves our enemies and so shall it be. We heard you loud and clearly during the last elections on how you were planning to foist Chinedu Vivor Rhodes on us and how you promised to remove Oba of Lagos, remove all the ba'ales in Lagos.

Tapas are settlers in Lagos. They've been there for a long time and are part of the history of Lagos. Oshodi people are actually Tapas. The Igunukos you see in Lagos belongs to Tapas. However, they met the Aworis is Lagos. Olofin Ogunfuminire and his group were the first settlers in Lagos. They came directly from Ile-Ife.

There are no Braziliana that are indigenous to Lagos. The so called Brazillianans are simply Yoruba slaves who returned from Brazilian plantations. They are easily identified by their slave masters name. People like Davilsa, Rhodes Vivour etc are returning slaves (mostly of Ijesha ancestry) who are now claiming Lagos. They are not indigenous to Lagos but settlers.

Bini people simply came to Lagos through the coast. They met an established community and conquered a fishing village on the Island and turned it to a military post. Ashipa, a Yoruba man who married Oba of Bini's daughter was imposed as the Oba and he owed the throne and his loyalty to the Oba of Bini. However, The Bini ancestry on the throne lets assume Ashipa was even Bini ended with the death of Oba Akinsemoyin. Those ruling till today are Yorubas from Ologun Kutere lineage.
