So you actually believe that LUTH will lock five 150-bed wards, as in 750 beds? How many bed-capacity is the whole LUTH itself when you can ignorantly believe that 750 beds are unoccupied and locked? Smh.

With your kind of negativity and ignorance which you think is cool, many of you will never be blessed by this land. All you do is give negative mindset and the land will reflect it back to you.

Stop interpreting things upside down to defend rubbish as you always do.

The news said the 5 wards comprised 150 beds.

Where did you get 750 beds from? Is simple English too difficult for you to understand?

This man, you are currently becomeing a nuisance to this forum Mr Freestuff, I think Even brain that is free i am sure you don't have. keep joking and playing stupid tribalistic politics with your destiny and that of your future generation.

Frizz001:
Are you then saying the House of Reps Chairman of the Committee is lying or uninformed? Do you have any factual basis for your outright disagreement with the House of Reps that exercises oversight of the health sector? Has LUTH come out to say the position is untrue or have you verified that there are no 5 wards shut down in LUTH due to lack of medical personnel? It is clearly stated in the news that the Health Committee undertook an oversight visit to LUTH and came up with these findings. Have you done same and had a different result?

Assuming, without conceding, that your assertion is correct, why then am I not seeing some outrage from you against the House of Reps Chair of the Committee for speaking such falsehood and misleading the people? Why do you rather attack one who has reacted to the news and instead accuse the person of being negative and therefore not entitled to the blessings of the land?

Either way, there is evident failure of government/governance so why are you unable to criticize the government for its lapses?

You really have time reply that guy, that guy brain is dead so all you wrote here he will not even read any single word of it. he is the classic definition of zombie...

Hello Mr. You are the ignorant one here. The write up says 5 wards comprising 150 bed. Not 5 wards comprising 150 bed each. Total bed lost is 150 not 750.

See as you are fooling yourself on top of stupid multiplication just to find a way to defend our mediocre government. They clearly state that, the five wards totalled 150 beds. if you want us to know you are a mathematics guru, you should have done division to give us results and not mumu multiplication up and down

I don't have issue with people relocating, but I'm so angry with the Nigeria Govt.

Nigeria heavily subsidized the doctors training, only for the doctors to relocate after few years of practice.

Why don't you make them sign an undertaking to recoup the cost of your investment with interest before you can sign any documents that they will need to relocate.

As it is, taxpayers are training the doctors for foreign countries.

Is that mot stupidity?

Ur point of view is very one sided, what about the working conditions of the said doctors and their welfare. Nigerian health sector is not up to standard in terms of equipment and facilities to carry out the job and they're understaffed there by overworking doctors and under paying them. There's no incentive to practice in Nigeria if I can work in a better condition abroad and recieve higher pay while raising my family in a more saner clime as well where they can easily have a head start in their careers. U talking like a sadist, go and study medicine if u think it's easy and then work in the present condition of Nigerian hospital if you're serious about patriotism. Why don't ur politicians trust them with their life but 'll rather go to same abroad? Have you condemned that? Head dey pain u

A state of emergency should be declared on major the health sector undecided . Nigeria's medical studies are the cheapest in the world, the government spends a lot of funds to train these ppl to be one of the best and after a few years in service, they jakpa even though they are one of the highest-paid professionals because no Medical doctor earns below 250k as we speak.
My verdict is this no medical doctor should be allowed out of this country until after 10yrs of service.
As for the government we should empower our traditional medical care, traditional medical doctors can be of good service. Public officers and politicians foreign medical trips should also be discouraged because the money used for foreign medical trips can also be used to create a good working conditions for health workers
North Korean mode should be activated to curtail this nonsense cool

See what someone who claims to have sense is saying

The main issue is the exchange rate....

People have bn migrating for years but the last 8 years made it more attractive to move, even for those doing well in naija...

When dollar was 150....an entry level doctor/Banker/soldier etc earning 120-150k may not even see the need to move....and that is just 1k dollars

Right now...how many entry level jobs even pay 300 dollars I.e. 300k naira and u expect people not to move to where their wealth is sure and preserved in a reasonable currency!?

That is the problem with you medical doctors - Superiority complex.

In your warped mind, you think it is your profession that is the most difficult to master. You better stop being delusional. Who says you can understand the abstract nature of my own profession?

I was being fair in my submission. I stated clearly I had no issue with medical practitioners relocating but you cannot relocate at the expense of taxpayer's money.

It costs money to train a doctor and you got this on the cheap from the Nigeria Government, only for you to bail out under whatever excuses, without repaying the cost of your training. That is not fair. I have offended you because I suggested govt should make you repay back the debt of your training. That is the right, fair thing to do.

Which profession in Nigeria has it good? Which profession gets the commensurate salary? So all professionals should depart because the infrastructures are not there? You are free to go but the Government should force the doctors from repaying the cost of their training.

Nigeria cannot afford to be the training ground for other western nations.

When you talk about Revenue, try to talk about expenditure as well.

It is not all rosy as those countries are very expensive to live.

They create a bubble to make it look rosy by trapping you forever in debt - it is a debt culture where most things are owed to the banks - your mortgage, your cars etc.

I recognise that each individual's case is different but most people are just getting by abroad.

Will you just shut up!
Even University of Ìlọrin teaching hospital has more than 2000 bed capacity.

My dad has a private hospital, he has been looking for doctor to come and do locum for 250-300k monthly, he still can't find for more than 2yrs now.
When the man power becomes too low, they will definitely shut down the ward.
My elder bro, who is a resident doc is already thinking of Japa cos all his colleagues have left and he being over stretched, always complaining and always stressed out with low payment as compared to Japaing.

The house committee members believed what they were told by the hospital Management. Whether the information is right or wrong is different kettle of fish.
Actually, it isn't possible for five wards of a federal teaching hospital to shut down on account of "japa". The hospital Management is only trying to weep public sentiment to enable them get FGN's approval to employ their family members and friends into the system.
Yes, some staff may have resigned their appointments lately but this cannot be enough to shut down even one ward in the hospital. All the propaganda being peddled are for political gains.
