There are lots of Doctors and nurses managing private hospital jobs and ready but these government will not bother recruiting to fill gaps but keep making silly noise about people that have japa.
They only care about spending millions on buying new cars for themselves and looting

Well Nigeria subsidies most everyone's education yet they Japa..

If we take your comment to ots logical conclusion,no graduate of any Nigerian university in any field would be allowed to japa

You don't get it.

Westerners use student loans from the govt to fund their education which they have to pay back.

The subsidy that goes into medicals is obvious and large. No one says they should not relocate but the Nigeria govt needs to pass a law that will mandate it for to refund the govt subsidy or practice for certain years in Nigeria to liquidate the debt.

Nigeria as of today is not that rich to be training doctors for almost free using taxpayers money only for them to abandon the same taxpayers and go abroad to practice. That will be the smart thing any nation will do.

Do you really know how much it costs to train a doctor?

Good.

Nigeria should stop subsidising anything. They should let everything come in form of loan.

Some people might choose to pay outrightly while some might opt for the loan which has to be paid back.

That is the only way forward.

What you are saying is silly and impractical

What is practical is for universities to charge students correctly and remove any so called imaginary subsidy.
Have you got concrete figures for the subsidy? What is the education budget per univeristy student in Nigeria? I believe you are educated and know how to use Google

Check Education budget for universities and divide it by the number of students in Universities in Nigeria that way you are talking with facts and figures

Why not say Victor Osimhen should not Japa after all he too was developed with subsidized training?

Is it only doctors that Japa? are they the only ones that benefit from so called subsidy? What of Engineers and IT specialists and other graduates?

The simple solution is that students should pay the market cost of their education even if it means taking loans not passing some stupid law to refund subsidy

Subsidy that you don't have figures for

From year one to graduation
does the Federal government spend one thousand dollars per student?

Damn. LUTH's CMD was at Unilorin's induction in July decrying Japa. Quite surprising his backyard is even best hit.

On the off side, though, dear doctors, stop japaring. It's discouraging and unkind. The government train you costly and you're leaving. Don't be callous.

Dear Government, listen to the yearnings of the doctors and follow suit. It's a malady and malevolent stifling them of their full rights that makes it tough not to consider other options.

Dear (possible) patients, for your sake, shun things that get you to be in the hospital, need medical help. Exercise right, drink water above carbonated drinks, shun alcohol, avoid smokes of first and second class, reduce sugar, reduce sun exposure, check your vitals regularly, think less to avoid hypertension but don't come out here constituting nuisance, reduce fatty consumables...

Why are you pleading for them not to Japa . Is the government doing enough? They can award themselves #5billion to buy SUV within a twinkle of an eye bought can't pay nurses and doctors...hypocrisy everywhere.

I guess you aint a doc, that's why u can afford to write that.
If u have an opportunity to get rid of a toxic relationship, would you ignore it? My relationship with this country(and my patients, as an extention) is quite disturbing. We get poor pay, we get abused by patients etc. If u were in such a situation, would you stick around?

A state of emergency should be declared on major the health sector undecided . Nigeria's medical studies are the cheapest in the world, the government spends a lot of funds to train these ppl to be one of the best and after a few years in service, they jakpa even though they are one of the highest-paid professionals because no Medical doctor earns below 250k as we speak.
My verdict is this no medical doctor should be allowed out of this country until after 10yrs of service.
As for the government we should empower our traditional medical care, traditional medical doctors can be of good service. Public officers and politicians foreign medical trips should also be discouraged because the money used for foreign medical trips can also be used to create a good working conditions for health workers
North Korean mode should be activated to curtail this nonsense cool
With this mindset, no wonder Nigeria is floundering. Someone would jump into a discourse, spouting totally incorrect info and some harebrains would believe them.
Where did u get the info Nigerian medical training is the cheapest worldwide? Are you even aware medical students tuition is the highest compared to other students? Some of my medical students parents sold lands to see them through med school and when they are required to return the investment by taking care of their parents, you tell them to stay behind in Nigeria and suffer? Are you for real? And who told you we are the best paid professionals? And where in the good fuvk name did you get the info no Nigerian doc is paid below 250k? Have you asked in the private sector what they get paid?
So if you restrict docs less than 10 years, why not restrict lawyers, engineers etc? Abi government no subsidize their training too?
Rubbish! angry angry

That is the problem with you medical doctors - Superiority complex.

In your warped mind, you think it is your profession that is the most difficult to master. You better stop being delusional. Who says you can understand the abstract nature of my own profession?

I was being fair in my submission. I stated clearly I had no issue with medical practitioners relocating but you cannot relocate at the expense of taxpayer's money.

It costs money to train a doctor and you got this on the cheap from the Nigeria Government, only for you to bail out under whatever excuses, without repaying the cost of your training. That is not fair. I have offended you because I suggested govt should make you repay back the debt of your training. That is the right, fair thing to do.

Which profession in Nigeria has it good? Which profession gets the commensurate salary? So all professionals should depart because the infrastructures are not there? You are free to go but the Government should force the doctors from repaying the cost of their training.

Nigeria cannot afford to be the training ground for other western nations.
Cheap? Did you train in a university? What was the school fees of your medical students then compared to yours? Answer this question, while switching on your brain.
You can't expect someone to spend such a lot of money and sit behind in Nigeria with a paucity of funds

Our Nigerian leaders, in all tiers, are very selfish. They don't want to carry out recruitment, they want to save the money for themselves but they are here raising alarm for some silly reason.

Many hospitals in Nigeria have been understaffed for years but they refuse to carry out public recruitment.
