Public officers and politicians foreign medical trips should also be discouraged because the money used for foreign medical trips can also be used to create a good working conditions for health workers
EconFinance:

See what someone who claims to have sense is saying

Didn't you see where I mentioned that politicians should also not be allowed to go on foreign trips?
Why should essential workers like medical doctors be allowed to leave in droves, don't you know that their studies were been subsidized by the FG?
I pray that you or your loved ones won't have complicated health issues, the reality of my statement can only be seen by those who are battling serious health issues

So you actually believe that LUTH will lock five 150-bed wards, as in 750 beds? How many bed-capacity is the whole LUTH itself when you can ignorantly believe that 750 beds are unoccupied and locked? Smh.

With your kind of negativity and ignorance which you think is cool, many of you will never be blessed by this land. All you do is give negative mindset and the land will reflect it back to you.
When the news favours your master, it's legit, but when it's not, you raise doubt. Na wah for you grin

Except you live in the moon would you not feel the hardship in the land

good for them.

Some of us are naive. It's the common man that suffers. If the leaders are sick they travel out and receive treatment.

This happens sometimes in nations. The nations where our people are japaring lacked manpower and they put policies in place that attracted immigrants.

From Andrew's "checking out of Nigeria" in the early or mid-1980s to the ongoing "japa" as of 2023... It's been one hell of relentless migrations out of Nigeria for economic and educational reasons.

Question should be;

Those so-called Reps 'raising alarm', where are their own children now? Can they be firm and frank that they have invested the lot of their jumbo package on any meaningful pro-people project in the country?

They keep pretending to care whereas we know them!

Not even the President cares! So tell me something else Mr. Rep sad

Oga, if you have not gone to LUTH to verify that wards are not closed, do not sit and speculate behind your keyboard. A factual, empirical rebuttal will make more sense. If approval for recruitment is their problem, they know the proper channel through which to make the recommendation and follow-up for approval.

nelsonose:

The house committee members believed what they were told by the hospital Management. Whether the information is right or wrong is different kettle of fish.
Actually, it isn't possible for five wards of a federal teaching hospital to shut down on account of "japa". The hospital Management is only trying to weep public sentiment to enable them get FGN's approval to employ their family members and friends into the system.
Yes, some staff may have resigned their appointments lately but this cannot be enough to shut down even one ward in the hospital. All the propaganda being peddled are for political gains.

Stop interpreting things upside down to defend rubbish as you always do.

The news said the 5 wards comprised 150 beds.

Where did you get 750 beds from? Is simple English too difficult for you to understand?

No mind the yeye guy, his masters are simply wasting 30k monthly on this chap, he can't even comprehend properly before typing.
Very soon they will sack him for calling that house of rep a liar.

I don't have issue with people relocating, but I'm so angry with the Nigeria Govt.

Nigeria heavily subsidized the doctors training, only for the doctors to relocate after few years of practice.

Why don't you make them sign an undertaking to recoup the cost of your investment with interest before you can sign any documents that they will need to relocate.

As it is, taxpayers are training the doctors for free for these foreign countries.

Is that not stupidity?

When senators wanted to pass a law enforcing doctors trained in public institutions to work for at least 5 years, a lot of Nigerians shot it down and called them enemies of progress. They've not seen anything.

Of the reps were representing good enough, they should have summoned the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and question him how he is running the country aground. Did we have sroves of health workers leaving the country during GEJ and PMB"s time? Very soon na native doctors and spiritual leaders go begin treat patients for this country.

So would you then support a law making every graduate of a public university not leave Nigeria till they have worked for five years here too?

Their education was subsidised too.

Yes if that's what will prevent the massive brain drain going on in the country. They should be made to work for at least 10 years. You can't be getting education cheaper that what is obtainable anywhere in the world then run away the moment you get a degree.

Well, if the government is ready to make the hard choices needed to get to industrialization and export of manufactured goods and services, might work

Or not.

How were they not enemies of progress? Was their condition of serving Nigeria as politicians is at par with the condition of doctors, whose works are even felt more than theirs?
