This is how my interview went

VO- Good Morning
Me- Good Morning

VO- Pass me your document
Me- here it is

VO- does your aunty who is your sponsor live in the US

Me- my aunt Mrs …. lives in sugarland Texas

VO- what does she do?
Me- she works as a registered/ self employed nurse and owns her own healthcare firm in sugarland Texas

VO- is she the one sponsoring your siblings and how did your siblings get to the us?
Me- my brother got is dual engineering masters at Louisiana tech and was returning to a new job offer here in Nigeria. Then intel corporation made a counter offer and he is currently on work visa H1b at intel corporation

VO- what about your sister how did she get there?
Me- my sister got married here in Nigeria then after 3years she moved with her husband who is a US citizen, she’s currently a green card holder

VO- have you travelled before?
Me- No, this will be my first time

VO- (types for a while) I’m sorry you won’t be accepted by this time. Gave me the blue slip

How should I go about this please?

Unfortunately for you, getting student visa could be an uphill task. Family ties.. established aunty and siblings. Realistically, your chance of returning to Nigeria is very slim regardless how you try to convince the VO

Hey !

I remember advising the original poster and if you are in the same situation here is what i told her to do ......

1. Walk into the GTB that sold the MRV and reconfirm if the receipt is still valid ... If you pay it online ..still Walk nto GTB or call the customer care .

2. Go and confirm from the agent if he or she has paid the SEVIS fee . Confirm the SEVIS fee payment online and make sure the online page read ..PAID

3. Call the CGI call center once you have satisfied the above stuffs and explain everything to them ...they will reopen your portal ...

The CO kept the MRV because he or she wants you to go and pay the MRV by all means ....he or she thought that you wanted to play a fast one on the embassy.

By that scenario, your CGI portal was temporarily locked while the MRV was temporarily rendered invalid from the embassy end (not from the GTB end) , therefore the CO might have forgot to re unlock it as well as the MRV payment due to their tedious work hours .

I have been on the phone with CGI since Monday but they still haven't resolved it yet. They initially said to wait 48hrs but that has since elapsed. Now they say i should wait another 72 hrs. Someone else advised me to just pay another MRV and open a new profile. I just want to know if I'm wasting my time tryin to revalidate this current MRV. Thank you

Hey !

What really happened in your own situation ? Aside that don't just rush into paying another MRV ... They have your info and record already. Have you been to GTB ? Have you confirmed your SEVIS receipt online and it says PAID ?

In all this ...clean record in paying the SEVIS fee is all that matters because SEVIS fee is going directly into the US government purse .

Tell us and be honest ..what happened in your own scenario ? Call the CGI again and ask them what happened to your CGI.

Hello Sir, please I just wanna know if there are schools in the USA, that can accept a polytechnic graduate with a CGPA of 2.70 out of 4 for Post Graduate studies (something like a pre masters).. majorly considering University of Kentucky as they have an acceptance rate of 85% and according to my research accepts 2.6 CGPA at their school, just wanted to ask the house if there are other schools that can accept such CGPA?

Google would be your best bet in finding such schools. Also, you can consider doing a WES evaluation if you haven't done so. It may boost your GPA a bit.

Hey !

After you login into your CGI page, look at your left face side and click on update profile...the page will load into your bio data page ...stroll downward and you will see a space where you will input your passport number ...input the number and stroll downward towards your right side where u will see save ..click on SAVE .

After saving then log out of your CGI page. After 24 hours , login back to your CGI and print out your DS 1 60 as well as your appointment letter ...your new passport number will display on the documents.

Please house, I need urgent suggestions .

I was once arrested by EFCC under wrongful accusation for fraud ( you’ll know how EFCC use to pack boys when Dey rade a compound both the innocent and the main ones) . Also which i was later released after their investigation , because I was innocent obviously so now that I’m applying for a US visa, I don’t know if I should say yes or no , on the portion where it’s been asked “if you have been arrested or convicted of any crime “, but meanwhile I was not convicted neither did I give my fingerprints. since my situation is like this , I don’t know if saying yes will jeopardize my case of getting the visa.
But if I say no now , what if they fish out my name and take it up against me .

Please what should I do ? Someone help me 🙏🏾

Hey !

Honesty doesn't pay most time . Don't do like the western bred because you are an African .

Naturally a guy bred in the US or UK will tick yes i have been indicted before ...and that doesn't mean that they will say ...Oh ! You have said the truth okay you can go .. No , they would rather place the honest guy on watchful eyes of the cops 😊

In your own case as an African, you were actually did not booked , you were only unlawfully arrested among culprits and later released upon satisfactorily investigated which eventually exonerated you .

Your answer is ..NO ! I have never been arrested or accused of any crime before .

I paid my SEVIS fee on Nov 9th. Someone made the payment for me in America via western union. I got confirmation of the payment on the fmjfee website and I printed my confirmation way before my interview date which was Nov 27. Only for me to get to the embassy and the lady at the biometrics cubicle said she couldn’t confirm my payment even though I also gave her the payment confirmation that everyone gets after paying SEVIS fee. I got home & called the fmjfee customer support and the staff confirmed that my payment was applied to my account since Nov 10. They also emailed me as well that the payment was there. So o honestly dunno why the embassy staff couldn’t see it. That’s what happened

Hey !

This is a dicey situation which nobody can really pin point but i will try my best as a detective 😊

1. The embassy staff that could not confirm your SEVIS payment might have been over worked and stressed out , hence she was not really patience enough to do the needful .

2. Your SEVIS fee might have been paid via illegal means (you may not know this ) ..eg a bad credit card , bad check etc which was later detected by SEVIS there by they DEACTIVATED your SEVIS fee .

3. Your SEVIS fee was deactivated by the time you get to the embassy OR has not been activated by SEVIS themselves. The SEVIS staff who said your account was intact might not have access to the account office , he or she just see your normal file as paid ...but he or she did not have access to the inner account office record .

SOLUTION
===========

1. Confirm your SEVIS payment online , either paid legally or illegally , if the SEVIS online says ..PAID ..then your payment is still valid .

LET US KNOW IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHECK IT .

2. All this situation doesn't tamper with your MRV payment or did the lady at the embassy retain your MRV receipt ?

IF YES ...then go to the GTB physically , don't call them ..tell them the scenario and demand another MRV receipt (if possible or let them tell you the status of your MRV).

3. You will still need to call the CGI staff. Plead with them to tell you the present status of your portal ..they will ask your detail because your portal might have been locked temporarily or ARE YOU STILL ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR PORTAL ?

4. if your MRV payment is intact and your SEVIS payment is intact then you are good to go and book an appointment.

There is God...don't give up .

Or should I just kuku go ahead and be honest .

Hey !

Any genuine sponsor is not a red flag . Your sponsor doesn't have to answer your surname. Many orphans and adopted children have been sponsored successfully into America . Honesty and genuiness of purpose is the clue the CO will try to decode .

In this respect, be honest in your DS 160 and verbally but if your mind is saying another thing then you can say ..MY PATERNAL UNCLE (if the person is of age ).

Your uncle or brother may decide to answer other surnames out of your lineage ...court affidavit can clear this doubt .

Good morning everyone,

I'm in a very confused state, after moved my resumption date from August 2023 to January 2024 due to non availability of interview dates in Nigeria, I finally got a date for interview in November, all payments were made, receipt received and confirmed, only for me to go for the interview on the 30th of Nov, after the long Queue verification, I was told my Sevis fee payment is not reflecting, I should contact my school and reschedule my appointment, see me that is meant to resume school by January,

As I'm typing now, my sevis fee payment is reading active online, why couldn't this people see this from their own end. ?

Hey !

Four (4) scenarios possibly happened .

1. They did not cool down at the embassy to cross check your SEVIS payment because of over work or negligence.

2. Your SEVIS fee payment has not reflected that period you were inside the embassy

3. When you were paying your SEVIS fee ..you or your agent quoted wrong SEVIS school code

4. You or your agent did not pay the SEVIS fee in appropriate (legal) way...therefore the money is not actually in SEVIS purse .

SOLUTION
=========

1. Check your school code in your I 20 and compare it with your SEVIS payment receipt if both codes match . If YES then....

2. Call SEVIS or email them to reverify your SEVIS payment ..after that go online and print a new SEVIS fee receipt .

3. Schedule another appointment and attend your Interview. STAND YOUR GROUND THIS TIME AND TELL THEM TO CALL SEVIS IF THEY RE DOUBTING...... It won't happen again anyways 😊

Leftrightcenter:
Well as I earlier stated, you have to define the path you want whether you want to enter into clinical field, academia or research.
Bear in mind that PhD takes time(≥3 years) and with PhD you will likely enter into academia or research. If time is not an issue to you, you may go for the PhD after or during which you can navigate your way into clinical nursing (writing NCLEX, obtaining licence, etc) but the little concern is loosing track along the way as you stated.
You can try masters or PhD in nursing, MPH, physiology, etc. You can research for schools that offer such.

Requirements for PhD programs as someone already stated depends on the school. But some schools I researched sometimes ago require GRE, minimum of 3.0 GPA, interview, etc. Most admit direct from BSc. However, for public health(PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, maternal and child health, etc), an MPH or MSPH degree is almost always required.
Any health related field(like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, etc) that you took course in during your undergraduate program may not really be a deviation.

Hello Chief, so I've narrowed my search to 4 universities and will be applying to all 4 of them for MSc.

They are University of Manitoba - Paediatricand Child Health, Simon Fraser - Gerontology, Memorial University of Newfoundland - Health Ethocs or Publoc Health and University of Alberta - Public Health.

My query is on searching for a supervisor as it's a prerequisite. When mailing the supervisor is there a template I should use or are there specific information I should to include to improve my chances of favorable response?
