Honestly, I have lived my life watching how some few Igbos destroy the Igbo brand.

I have also read articles and seen clips about Nigerian history, some presented by independent whites, that show that certain inter-tribal relations culture by the Igbos has not changed for the better in over 70 years.

The way Igbos were described (the good and the bad) 70, 50, 30 years ago is generally the way most Nigerians would describe them today. Fair enough that same applies to some other tribes too.

But some of the bad is highly detrimental to Igbo people and the brand today, despite the great potential and ease of that not being the case, and this is not being discussed. It is sad if you ask non-Igbo people across Nigeria the tribe they 'like the least' in Nigeria and force them to answer, Igbos would play a significant role at the top across the country. This is why the bad needs to be highlighted, discussed and action should take place to intentionally change or adjust.

Let me state some observations I have made:

The chest-beating, self-delusions of some few igbo people
- Igbos don’t run Nigeria’s economy
- Nigeria would not fail without Igbos
- Igbos are not developing or transforming any part of Nigeria outside the SE
- Igbo states are not the richest states
- Igbos are not the richest Nigerians
- Igbo states (or the SE region) are not the most developed even once you remove Lagos & FCT

The facts
- Igbos are probably the most trade-inclined tribe
- Igbos are good at trade
- Igbos really only dominate (1) Transport, (2) Spare parts, (3) Electronics, (4) Building materials and (5) Hospitality sectors
- Igbos are probably the tribe that are most spread across Nigeria as local residents
- Igbos are highly competitive and a successful tribe in all aspects of life in Nigeria

To make clear, Igbos are not feared by other tribes, neither are other tribes jealous/envious of Igbos. The uncouth and antagonistic boisterous nature of a few, but sufficiently significant number of, Igbos and these few Igbo’s culture of trying to claim superiority or attack other tribes just ends up with the Igbos breaking/damaging bonds with other tribes.

You can be good at whatever you do, and even vocalise this prowess, without a need to boast you are better than everyone else, you are their benefactors, you dominate them and you will always be the best, especially when all you can back it up with is daft and wrong evidence. Even Messi, Lebron James, Einstein, Michael Jackson etc. do/did not talk like that.

This should be spread across the Igbo community!

Good post op.

"Achebe, however, saved some criticisms for his kinsmen. He criticised them for what he described as “hubris, overweening pride and thoughtlessness, which invite envy and hatred or even worse that can obsess the mind with material success and dispose it to all kinds of crude showiness.”

He added that “contemporary Igbo behavior(that) cab offend by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness."

Well the OP made some apt points about what Igbos are good at

However, for hospitality, I will say they dominate in the SE. In Lagos and the SW, Yorubas dominate. For transportation also, I would say the North is more dominant in terms of logistics. The north also controls agriculture and mining

Yorubas also dominate the following industries in terms of being founders or innovators

- Medicine
- Education
- Tech
- Fashion
- Construction
- Broadcasting
- Music

Good one, OP.

Pigs should reduce their noise and allow us rest.

Indeed but they cannot. Even Achebe, Igbocentric and bigoted as he was, warned them to tone down their “noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness” that offends others.

What Achebe does not acknowledge about his fellow Igbos is that they are beyond redemption because they lack the humility classy people have that makes them modest and respectful towards others they are even a million miles better than.

Yorubas have this humility and that is why they are not braggarts despite their commendable and exemplary achievements worldwide in all field of human endeavor.

Igbos, conversely, are born pugnaciously arrogant and immodestly offensive sufferers of delusions of grandeur. They must push their own aberrancy in the face of others always.

Hence the reason they are never happy unless when putting others down even if they have to do that with exaggerated lies about their wealth and achievement which are actually nothing stood side by side with that of the Yorubas.

Imagine the disgraceful old Ohanaeze clown, at his age, claiming ludicrously that Igbos developed Lagos. How will the asinine claim, coming from an elder who should know better, not annoy others?

One wonders if Igbos are born with mental health issues because it is obvious there is something fundamentally wrong for them to persist with this behaviour that has made many conclude they are totally and offensively beyond redemption.

Once a sane person conclude folks who are offensive cannot change then to fight and resist them is the next and only option. This is why Igbos have quarrels with all others universally.

He added that “contemporary Igbo behavior(that) can offend by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness."

I once wrote this.

VERY INTERESTING READ

Which Lagos? Is it Lagos as a state or Lagos as a City?

First it was "all land in Lagos belongs to us, we own all the houses and the real estate";
Then "we developed all of Lagos";
then "Lagos is a no man's land";
then "Lagos is not part of Southwest";
Then "Lagos is not a Yoruba land";
Then "Benins are owners of Lagos";
Then "you're not a True indigen of Lagos";
Then "Lagos culture is not the same as the Yoruba Culture";
Then "Lagos is indigenous land of Lagos natives not Yoruba";
Then "Aworis are not Yoruba";
Then "Lagos is a former federal capital so it is not a Yoruba Land";
Then "Lagos is a formal British colony so it belongs to the British";
To them, Lagos belongs to any other tag or people, but not the Yorubas.

Why can't a Yoruba person that wants to condemn or criticize or attack Igbos come out brave and say:

We Yorubas hate Igbos and we are ready to live without Igbos. And we also welcome peaceful division of Nigeria so that we can be on our own without the boastful, arrogant Igbos?

Why must every Yoruba person that wants to criticize or condemn or attack Igbos first start by reminding us how every other tribe hate Igbos?

Dear Yorubas, please stand on your own in your hate and attack against Igbos, stop hiding behind everybody hate Igbos.

Leave how other tribes hate Igbos, it doesn't concern you, focus on how you and your fellow Yorubas dislike or hate Igbos or how your tribe dislike or hate Igbos, stop forcing other tribes to join you in hating Igbos.

Stop gaslighting other tribes to join you in hating Igbos. Stand on your own and attack Igbos on your own, trying to tell the world how India, America, China, Togo, Ghana, South Africa, Gabon, Japan all hate Igbos because they boast or do this and that as your backup reason for hating Igbos makes you and the entire Yoruba tribe appear cowardly and scared of facing Igbos one on one without hiding behind others or ganging up against Igbos.

Talk about how and why you and your fellow Yorubas hate Igbos, stop telling us how Ijaw, Hausa, Bini, Idoma, etc also hate Igbos, allow them to talk about their own hatred for Igbos you this unscrupulous Yoruba people.

If an Igbo person wants to attack Yorubas, he will go straight to attack Yorubas and tell you why he hate Yorubas as a people, he won't first start telling u how the whole world hate Yorubas for being deceitful, cunning, unreliable, treacherous and dirty in nature. He will tell Yorubas straight up that he hate Yorubas for this and that because Igbos don't need any other tribe to join them to attack or condemon or fight Yorubas or any tribe. We no de fear anybody Papa, we no de find backup or people to join us in fighting ordinary Yoruba people lol

Dear Yorubas pls grow up.

The whole world hate Igbos that's fine, allow the whole world to tell Igbos how much they hate them by themselves, allow the whole that hate Igbos to fight Igbos when Igbos offend them, stop reminding the whole world how much they hate Igbos for being arrogant, boastful, criminal-minded and whatnot, and focus on fighting or condemning or attacking Igbos on your own as Yorubas, stop hiding behind your fabricated mantra of 'every tribe hate Igbos' to spew your unbridled hatred for Igbos, be brave for once in you peoples treacherous life.

That was how you hatefilled Yorubas continued painting Peter Obi as an Igbo Presidential candidate hated by other Nigerian tribes. You kept on forcing other Nigerian tribes not to support Peter Obi that he is Igbo IPOB candidate and still Peter Obi won Lagos landslide that you guys had to go on rampage, Peter Obi won Rivers, Edo, Nasarawa, Plateau, Abuja, etc despite all your lies that no other tribe is supporting Peter Obi except Igbos.

Even after that you same treacherous lying demons of Yoruba tribe continued to insist that only Igbos are the ones supporting Obi, that Obidient movement was an IPOB movement even after Peter Obi defeated your demigod in his own Lagos and same you lying Yorubas will say Igbos are not up to 10% of Lagos population, but Peter Obi won Lagos state, so tell me, does it mean only 10% of Igbos in Lagos voted for Peter Obi to win your Yoruba god Tinubu in Lagos?

Dear Yorubas wake up, time for your lies have against Igbos have gone, we are no longer in the 1960s that you used Lagos-Ibadan expressway lying newspapers to spew all manner of propaganda against Igbos just to make other tribes to hate Igbos. People have already woken up, Yoruba wake up!

If madness was a tribe, we know the tribe that will be referred to as mad lol

Lol. You're an example of the average duplicitous and propagandist Igbo man always happy to use lies and falsehood to support his perpetual desire to play victim always.

The bolded in your post is the insincere excuse Igbos, till today, have used to death to keep playing victim and drawing sympathy you all think hides your real intentions.

First of all, the war was against the treasonous and constitutionally illegal declaration of Biafra by Ojukwu and Co. Do similar today and the result will be the same because no rogue group from within will be allowed to challenge the legal and constitutional authority of a nation.

It is therefore not about anyone forcing you to stay as you Igbos like to pretends so as to mask the fact you don't really want Biafra and prefer life outside the SE.

In any case, check the actual reality today with the idea of regional autonomy gaining traction everywhere and with everyone, including North you term as "parasitic", openly challenging Igbos to leave.

The tone has suddenly changed from you Igbos. When Northern elders demanded Buhari convene a referendum to allow Igbos to leave, IPOB Senator Abaribe, previously a vociferous supporter of Biafra, was one of the first to declare "no one can force Igbos out of Nigeria".

With Yorubas seriously planning and agitating for regional autonomy, it is your fellow Igbos starting threads upon thread here saying "we are not leaving Lagos" and "Lagos belongs to all of us and we will not leave",

How do you think other Nigerians perceive all this desperate Igbo hypocrisy discrediting your decades-long noise for Biafra?

Most will conclude you are scared of the severe suffering ahead after it dawned on you lot that Yorubas are very serious about their regional autonomy mission with a Yoruba President in place as well.

It is not rocket science that once cut off from the major market and spending power of the SW then you lot are toast. That is the morbid fear of you parasitic hypocrite who say one thing yet the life you live, spread across all Nigeria in millions, means you are all conmen

Nigerians have called your bluff. Crystal clear you Igbos, raising generations after generation in the SW, North etal, have no real intention of gaining Biafra or returning to the SE permanently.

It is something we now understand you use to gaslight and blackmail Nigerians so you appear victims of captivity even as your "flee the SE at all cost" nature now expose you all as the hypocrites and parasites you used to claim others were till even the North started calling you out.

Buddy I have news for you. More severe suffering on the way for Igbos. Regional autonomy is inevitable because it is the only system that can guarantee Nigeria's survival and progress.

Smaller, better run, more accountable, more homogenous, more secure and more productive regionally administered geographical areas is the only way forward for Nigeria.

That is when your real suffering will start because you will become the only Nigerians who will be 10th class everywhere as it is obvious you will refuse to go back to your SE whereas Yorubas , Middle Belt, SS and even North , from leaders to indigenes, are ready for the the inevitable.

So keep lying and claiming "they won't let us go" rather than dropping the hypocrisy all Nigerians are now aware of in preference for preparing for the future of the 15 t 20 million Igbos outside the SE who will become persona non grata nuisance everywhere once regional autonomy is in place.

You lack high IQ.

Firstly, you make an assumption I am Yoruba.

Secondly, you are trying to deflect from the defect many see with the Igbo tribe, instead of addressing the defect.

Bro, leave them. In my post above, I have shown them the inevitable future of Nigeria they will be the main physical, financial, economic and mental victims of whether as individuals or as a region.

They won't move to tackle what is obvious. They will keep making Nzogbu Nzogbu noise, living in denial and feeding their arrogant and hateful people with "Igbo are supreme" propaganda till it is too late and excruciating pain and suffering is upon them.

You know an average Yoruba person thrives on lies and treachery.

If Yorubas declare Oduduwa nation today and even Annex Kogi, Kwara, etc as Oduduwa, Igbos will massively support Yorubas to have their Oduduwa without giving any single reason to join forces with Hausa-Fulanis to fight to stop Yorubas from seceding.

Let me give you a recent example.

When Sunday Igboho started his Yoruba Nation Agitation, Igbos and even IPOB members and leadership were massively supporting Sunday Igboho even as Yorubas both here on Nairaland rebuffed Igbos and IPOB for supporting Oduduwa Agitation saying Yorubas don't need Igbo support, that Igboho should stop the nonsense that Yorubas don't need any agitation.

This is a recent example that happened not long ago, you can search nairaland for that.

Now compare it to when IPOB started agitation for Southeast secession through peaceful protests waving Biafran flags in Southeast states, what did Yorubas even on this forum did?

They openly condemned IPOB and Igbos for always talking about seceding.

They even openly supported Nigerian army to shoot unarmed IPOB protesters saying they should shoot and kill them all that they are disturbing the peace of Nigeria.

The same thing your fathers did in the 1960s.

Now tell me, did Igbos or IPOB forcefully seize your crude oil cash cow of Southsouth that also made you Yorubas to support Nigerian army to shoot and kill IPOB unarmed protesters waving flags in Aba, Onitsha, Enugu?

Continue fabricating lies, it is well known with Yorubas, always twisting history to suite their narrative but thank God we now have social media to checkmate your lies and propaganda

Lagos, I love
UncleAyo:
I once wrote this.

VERY INTERESTING READ

Which Lagos? Is it Lagos as a state or Lagos as a City?

First it was "all land in Lagos belongs to us, we own all the houses and the real estate";
Then "we developed all of Lagos";
then "Lagos is a no man's land";
then "Lagos is not part of Southwest";
Then "Lagos is not a Yoruba land";
Then "Benins are owners of Lagos";
Then "you're not a True indigen of Lagos";
Then "Lagos culture is not the same as the Yoruba Culture";
Then "Lagos is indigenous land of Lagos natives not Yoruba";
Then "Aworis are not Yoruba";
Then "Lagos is a former federal capital so it is not a Yoruba Land";
Then "Lagos is a formal British colony so it belongs to the British";
To them, Lagos belongs to any other tag or people, but not the Yorubas.

Bleep you

Agreed Igbos have plenty issues, Igbos are the worst tribe or humans ever created by God, I am not here to argue or prove you wrong for what you already believe in.

All I am saying is, attack Igbos directly and stop hiding behind everybody hate Igbo to spew your hatred against Igbos.

Lastly, you cannot force a tribe to change who they are just to suite your desire, the best thing to do is to cut off that tribe and enjoy your peace. To this effect, the best solution is peaceful division of Nigeria so Igbos can go stay on their own with their plenty wahala so Yorubas and every other tribes that hate Igbos can live without worrying about Igbos tarnishing the unblemished wonderful image of the Yorubas.

This to me is what Yorubas should be working to achieve at least now that Yorubas have all the political power to shape Nigeria the way they want it without having to be spreading hatred and propaganda about Igbos every blessed day.

Use your federal political gains now to expel Igbos from Nigeria or divide Nigeria so Igbos can carry their boastful arrogant, annoying wahala and go, because expecting Igbos to change to make Yorubas happy will never work till eternity, so simply cut them off once and for all and have your amazing country without the troublesome Igbos cool
