Right now, I just don't know any alternatives.

There are other sources of protein you can try beef, lamb, pork, turkey, duck, fish and seafood.

You can't buy a full chicken for N6,500. Unless it died and the owner wanted to sell it off urgently.

The presence of the head, leg and liver shows that it was either slaughtered or it recently just died cos frozen chickens don't come with heads, feet or liver.

Currently, 1 kilo of the smallest chicken lap (4pieces) is 4k. Two kilos would be 8k. This chicken you're claiming to buy for N6,500 is way over 3 kilos.

And if you must know, live broiler is 14k. The biggest size...So either you tell us the story behind how you bought a full chicken for such amount, or you stop lying to our faces.

Most of the people here saying it's a wonderful deal haven't bought chicken in months (or even years) I bought a live chicken 2 weeks ago for 14k with abeg, and bought 2kilos of chicken laps just yesterday. So I know how much these things are sold.

You are right, last time I priced live broiler in Lagos was 10k.
Meanwhile I got this live turkey for #34k

Mind you, he bought a live chicken, not frozen.

So why is live chicken more expensive than frozen? I've never found a reasonable explanation to this question.

This type of chicken goes for 3k to 3.5k maximum here in the north. Are you guys living in another part of Africa not Nigeria?

Not true. I live in the North as well.

Ask him if he bought from the poultry owner of his workers. That may explain the price
The fact that u are getting ripped in ur place doesn't mean others are getting ripped else where.
I saw a guy last who bought Fearless or one of the energy drinks, can't really remember for #250 and was walking away when he was called to take back his change, he asked if he has a change, he said yes, they gave him #250 and he was dumb founded, he gave them #500 note.
This makes me wonder if he was buying it for #500 all the while.
If he didn't experience it and u tell him that drink is sold for #250 in other places as then, he will argue heaven and earth.

My dear you're the one talking nonsense. Do you know how much chicken feed is sold? The prices has tripled in the last 6 months.

Do you know the cost of training a chick to market size?

Most poultry farmers today are barely managing to keep their head afloat in the business, and someone is saying he bought live chicken N6,500 in this economy.

Unless it's in a remote village where the chickens were raised locally, if it's in a city like Lagos, I'll tell you that it's a lie from the pit of hell.

Is old layer not a live chicken? You can get old layer for that price. Accept that you are ignorant and shut the f.uck up

Nîgeriàns and îgñorance sha.
Are u aware there are poultry farmers that will feel like they hit a jackpot for selling that at #6500 now?
I have a cousin who owns a very large poultry, he begged people to buy his poultry products for #3,500 just two months ago, people who bought it from him were the abokis that sells chicken by the roadside, he had to agree to keep some of the chicken for one more week to help them clear it out.

Go for roasted and dried guinea fowl. Usually spiced. You'll thank God for the yummy taste. Usually around 10k or so

Nigerians always act like they're smart but we are actually too ignorant and sometimes, we act like we are dum.b.

A kilo (1kg) of frozen Chicken cost only N1,800-N2,000. Yet they'll carry their 10k to buy one yeye bonyy chicken of 2kg. In fact, no average Nigerian-fed chicken weighs more than 2.5kg. None. Why they carry their 10k and even 15k to buy a so called live chicken because of Christmas is honestly beyond my comprehension.

Why pay more for more stress, more bones and feathers to contend with ? Dum.b. Those selling frozen chicken at cheaper rates despite the high cost of fuel/generator are not dum..b.

I know that guy is lying, the chicken is even a big one, here in Lagos is more than 20,000. He just wants to be on front page, that's what I see.

Calm down, it is not only broilers they sell in the market. In bodija market, Ibadan, old layers go for between 3500-7k. Make ur confirmations before jumping to conclusions.

even if it's the most rural village, you can't get such for that amount. Unless something is special about it.
