It not self-sustaining. It's a bedroom city of Joburg. Unfortunately it's 30kms away. The same is repeated in all other black neigherbhood. Kept far away from economic centers where jobs and opportunities exist.

Plus what you'll earn on average.

Soweto has several industrial sites, mining, lots of malls, thriving tourism sector, new car dealerships,... A person in soweto literally don't have to go to Johannesburg

However that ticket was posted by someone from there, soweto is huge Naledi is in Soweto. SOWETO has over 50 neighborhoods from low middle class to upper middle class

Urbanization is population shift from rural to urban/ population growth in urban areas. Not dwellers. Population concentration in specific areas ≠ dwelling.

That being said, Egypt's urbanization rate is 43%, and as I said, Ghana's urbanization rate is more than 50%. What is your argument on this? You can add Maldives, Mauritius, ... These are Nations with high Human development index in Africa! Both have lower Urbanization rates than Ghana.

China is not yet termed a developed country overall but they are definitely getting there.

China is more developed than the UK infrastructural wise.
Of course UK will have a higher standard of living because of what we have come to view standard of living due to their currency being at the apex while china has kept theirs lower in order to be the world's producer.

I've been to both...China (Xiamen, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong) and also the UK
