If Tinubu makes this a reality and ensure the 6 geopolitical zone accross Nigeria.

I will join his supporters.

Lack of power supply is killing dreams and ideas in Nigeria.

The challenge though is that while this company tries to set up.

certain people in certain quarters will insist that if they don't have shares or if their son is not in management. The company can't operate. When Oyibo can't handle corruption. They pack up and go. May this solar company see the light of the day.

Nigeria has no business being in darkness. Me wey dey country where we don't boast of 20 degrees sunlight in a year. I still have solar in my house to support electricity. My Battery is 30 years warranty. solar panel 99 years warranty. Solar will work in Naija if we get it right. Not the solar we buy from China.
To me going Solar should not be our priority right now. We should concentrate more on Gas.

I am talking from the perspective of someone who has been in business for over 20 years and who has been an alternative energy enthusiast.
I have a 4kva solar installation in my office with 12 200 Watts panels. So I know what I am talking about.

First and foremost, we do not have the facilities for manufacturing the main component of solar panels which is the solar cells itself. Solar cells are made of highly refined and doped silicon, very few countries in the world have the equipment and capital to manufacture solar cells. The best we can do is import the components and assemble the parts together, just as we have been doing for cars, phones, computers, etc. I doubt the ones assembled in Nigeria would be cheaper or of better quality than the ones made in China.

Secondly, solar panels are not very effective in Nigeria. During rainy season cloud cover would not enable you to have adequate sunshine hours to fully charge your batteries. During harmattan, dust would cut the amount of power you can extract from the sun by more than half. It's not full harmattan yet and my panels are covered with dust. Of course the rains help in washing the panels, but a few days later it is covered with dust again. Luckily my office is a bungalow, so I bought a ladder and instructed my staff to clime up the roof and wash the panels at least twice a week. Now imagine if it was a multistorey building, you will be at the mercy of the rain.

Thirdly, as I said earlier, a sensible government would invest in gas. Nigeria has more gas than oil. There are huge gas deposits in the east, in the west and of course the Niger delta. Nigeria should not only be energy independent through gas, we should be exporting gas to Europe. There is serious gas shortage in Europe as a consequence of Russia's cutting of its gas supply and the destruction of the nordsteam pipeline. We could have been making billions of dollars exporting to Europe. Instead, we are too lazy to do the work, we just flare the gas into the atmosphere in order to extract the crude.

Now, I am not asking the government to completely abandoned solar energy and even other alternative energy sources, what I am saying is that it should not constitute the main part of our energy mix. That should still be petroleum products including Gas, because that's where we have comparative advantage.

This is good. I only hope they make it happen instead of eat up the money or spend 20 years trying to implement what can be done in just 2.

Aside the Siemens shambles, how about the electricity money looted by OBj and Atiku? Or the shambolic electricity privatization by Jonathan and Obi with nothing to show for it?

In fact, everyone, including those in electricity sectors have to be sanctioned!

Lagos is the most investment conductive state in the country. Other state governments are satisfied with the handouts from Abuja. The governments and indigenes of other states feels they are doing investors favours by allowing them invest in their communities, and give unreasonable terms and conditions.

Bro are you for real about the 99years warranty on the solar panels? Just checked online and saw a max of 25yrs, if true pls can you give some info about the panels, don't mind importing them.

Speaking of the shambolic electricity company privatisation, apart from the fact that these people aren't technocrats who can manage it and also improve it to greater heights, some of them don't even transmit the electricity but let it waste because they're quite stupid while feeling they would always get their money since they have refused to give prepaid meters to everyone. Like, who allow electricity to go waste? Useless idiots!

Any electric distribution company that refuse to circulate prepaid meters to everyone should get sanctioned and revoked.
