FG Raises Exchange Rate For Cargo Clearance To N951/$ by ogododo(op): 9:47am On Dec 07, 2023
The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, has raised the exchange rate for cargo clearance from N783/$ to N952/$.

This is coming barely three weeks after the rate was increased from N757/$ to N783/$.

The PUNCH reported in November, that the exchange rate for cargo clearance was raised from N757 per dollar to N783 per dollar, representing a 3.4 per cent increase.

However, our correspondent observed on Thursday that the new rate has reflected on the portal of the Nigeria Customs Service.

These demons in power no longer hide their intentions impoverish as many Nigerians as possible. Ironically, it is working because the poorer Nigerians get, the more they love APC, or how do you explain APCs recent landslide wins in Kogi and Imo?.

Every single day, Tinubu's calamitous economic policies keep moving millions of Nigerians into poverty

Look at that, cargo clearance. Y'all turned the country into a dump site with all kinds of junks being wasted on dollars, shameless wailers. During the election, they were screaming "from consumption to production" yet they are the biggest culprits of importation. Crying over another man's currency than to strengthen the local currency.

That's to mean import dependent commodities are about to cost more to deliver.

The device you used to post this was imported.
The petrol they use to run generators were you pay to charge your device was imported.

Your Tinubu is borrowing another man's currency.

You are 'accusing' a particular set for importing. Do you know how much FG generates from import duty?

Dey babablu dey go.

College kids in Asian countries cobble together the phones imported, you look for dollars to bring these phones while college kids get paid, aren't you shameless?. it is corrupt minds like you that had deliberately sabotaged the refineries so they could keep importing fuel. No nation develops with 90% import dependency. This lazy and greedy mentality has to stop.

You support past governments that looked away when our refineries rot away but here you are being unpatrotic to a government making frantic efforts at resusitating the refineries.

The only way the Naira can be strengthened is for the CBN to raise interest rates. This will immediaty be beneficial.

In the long run, only an export or perish policy will make the Naira soar in value. Note: Too strong a Naira will harm export competitiveness.

Buy locally made goods will not improve the Naira value. You can even go furthe and successfully ban the importation of all goods services and the Naira's value won't rise. It may actually depreciate.

Trade surplus(in value) where 82% of exports remains petroleum oil, same ol' same.

On the monetary side, you're right, however, on the fiscal side, government needs to protect local industries, not banning all importation as you have alluded.
