What difference does that make?
Are you saying if it's petrol it won't count as export
Try get accurate knowledge before jumping on the subject. Would have been better if export was 82% of consumer goods.

Every single day, Tinubu's calamitous economic policies keep moving millions of Nigerians into poverty
Just say your education is inadequate to understand that this has nothing to do with the Federal Government directly but forces of demand and supply for forex as government can't keep subsidizing private businesses.

If you want to price dollar-dependent services just like airlines ticket, you buy your forex at willing seller prices. Alternatively, you innovate and get local alternatives.

This policy of forex free float favours exporters and partly why we are now getting more money from exports than import. It's no brainer that the rent seeking container import business is a dying tribe.

When I read comments like this, I regret but take solence from the fact that the current minister of finance Wale Edun once said that the last time Nigeria had a stable economy was about a decade ago. That statement is in itself indicting on the APC and its calamitous economic policies

On the monetary side, you're right, however, on the fiscal side, government needs to protect local industries, not banning all importation as you have alluded.

Does this cargo clearance include exports from Nigerian ports?

I believe in open borders. Lift all bans and apply low tariffs on imports of goods and services.

Wow...

Thank Goodness you are not in charge of the Nigerian economy.

No country in the world practice what you're advocating. You want to ruin the Nigerian economy, destroy the naira, and condemn Nigeria to permanent economic dependency.

It is export but ends up as government earnings.

You want to ruin the Nigerian economy, destroy the naira, and condemn Nigeria to permanent economic dependency - all because you want to be able to buy what other countries produce cheaper even if it means destroying Nigeria 's manufacturers.

Of course it includes export. When exporters make dollars what rate do they convert their dollars to naira

Policy of free float doesn't favour any exporter especially when you have competition. Also the reason Nigeria export exceed import is because of increase in oil export and the rate the fed govt used to covert oil dollars to naira. With falling price of crude, the proceeds from export will fall in dollar value, the only way to increase the naira value is to further devalue the naira

Nigeria is mostly into raw materials exportation. Importing the finished produced is then expensive.

Of course! They need money to fund the building of residences and other important expenses for their comfort!

For an import-dependent country, we are not serious about rescuing the cost of living

On this mandate we must stand

Baba rest, even the politicians are the biggest culprits when it comes to importing luxurious items.

Your thesis above must be Economics 101. You got it wrong. China keeps devaluing her currency to encourage exports. They have been accused by US on this.

Look at that, cargo clearance. Y'all turned the country into a dump site with all kinds of junks being wasted on dollars, shameless wailers. During the election, they were screaming "from consumption to production" yet they are the biggest culprits of importation. Crying over another man's currency than to strengthen the local currency.

jmoore:

The device you used to post this was imported.
The petrol they use to run generators were you pay to charge your device was imported.

Your Tinubu is borrowing another man's currency.

You are 'accusing' a particular set for importing. Do you know how much FG generates from import duty?

Dey babablu dey go.

@jmoore the response u gave to the empty skull above is the best. Most people claim they are smart buh most time they dont even listen to themselves.

@femisplash do you actually think those politicians ruling you don't know how important igbos are in this country?

Which solace. Did you invest in infrastructure then. You did not invest in rails, airports, power, roads, schools etc. Stop living in that past. Nothing good to say about that past. We did not enjoy electivity that time.
