That's millions of naira...that family must be related to our political class or criminal syndicate...because our political class is largely criminal syndicate that have connived amongst themselves to steal as much as they can

To the family

My good fellows, haven't you heard about international transfers? Or just simply following the rules?

The officers remitted $216 to the family as a humanitarian release and seized the remaining $68,000🤣🤣🤣

Westerners, always proactive and vigilant. They don't want their lands becoming hotspots of money laundering,so they put in as much security checkpoints as possible in ports of entry for foreigners.

That money is definitely dirty, that explains the attempt to hide it from authorities.

Not necessarily. He might have saved it up or something but too scared to declare

If it happens here, citizens will first of all check the tribe of the victim and claim tribalism. Then use sentiments to prevent the law from working. Lawless shithole country

I sensed psychological suspicion here, they declared the ceiling of $10K EXACTLY!!!
When you want to lie, make your lie so big that they come no where near the fact, so far from the truth that thinking over it becomes a stress. cheesy
They should have declared $3K or less
Plus they definitely don't know how their mates hide things

They should have released the amount he declared and seize the excess. This is high handedness by the Americans

Do anyhow see anyhow. That is how they are still able to maintain some level of sanity.

They are using them to pass a message across to other people with criminal mindset, who will not like to follow the law.

That's millions of naira...well my take is that this family is well connected to our politicians and big corrupt business class ...who's laundering money through proxies...most of our political class beliefs is to steal as much as they can see and lauder it as secretly as they can...bunch of primitive mammals

The money is coming from US to Nigeria.

The trip is from US to Nigeria and not the other way.

It is most definitely proceeds of illegal activity. The person you quoted said 'illegal' not corruption.

Why are you lying when your hands are clean??

I don't think this is justice, why giving him only $216 instead of $10000 which he declared , at least he didn't tell them he has zero cash on him.

Probably they thought 10k is the legal declaration. I believe they want to carry the cash and convert here in Nigeria

Scared of what? Is anyone scared of money they legally earned??

See, the security agencies have more experience than you. They know that undeclared monies in 99% of the cases are related to illegal activities.

And their action is justified. Even, if they are not criminals, they already have a criminal mindset. The father is already teaching the children how to lie to security agencies.

It is good as they have been taught a hard lesson even if the money is legal.

I even saw a video where similar amount was seized from a white American family for the same issue of non-declarance.
It's outright forfeiture!

It is what you declare that you are allowed to go with. You lose the rest to the US Government.

And answer more questions about how such amount of money got in their possession especially if they're on a visit visa and not expected to work. They knew what they were doing by hiding that money
Was it what the risk? Losing over N70m just like that. Total loss!
Why not use the money to purchase items and send it to Nigeria to be sold afterwards.

Probably thought? The wordings are clear and unambiguous if you have travelled before you should know this.

This family must have also travelled before and declarations cannot be said to be strange to them.
