It was selfish interest and greed. He was meant to form a coalition with other southern parties. He thought he could outsmart the Northerners who people believed were backwards and easy to manipulate. He was outsmarted instead and got a ceremonial presidential position while the North got the powerful Prime Minister position. We were running a parliamentary system during that era.

I still wonder why igbos see Awolowo as a betrayer whereas, history has it that it was Azikiwe that actually betrayed Awolowo and other southern leaders and went to form coalition with the northern leaders instead of meeting with Awo in delta.

So, in a nutshell Azikiw's greed is the reason why I am sharing the same country with Omo igbos and they keep accusing us of not letting them go to form Biafra.

It is well o

He tried, he humbled himself when he informed Zik after the election that he wouldn't mind being the deputy PM or Finance minister, while Zik becomes the PM if they formed a coalition.

100%. The meeting was in Asaba. Zik did not show up. Unknown to the others, he headed upwards to the North. That was the first betrayal recorded in Nigerian politics.

Biafria secessionists hate Zik for a good reason.

That Azikiwe no try at all o...

What was he even thinking?

Does he think the igbos will benefit more than other regions if Nigeria remain indivisible?

@ bolded above......obviously! Recall in 1949, at the 1st year anniversary of the Ibo State Union, her president Nnamdi Azikwe was telling his people how their God has mandated them(igbos) to save all Africans from the bandage of slavery.

Unfortunately, probably due to their inherent low self-esteem, they talk too much and easily wears their hearts on their sleeves so others are not in any doubt as to what their (igbos) agenda is towards their fellow countrymen. The yorubas says " omode to ni, ti ohun ba dagba, ori eiye-ile ni ohun yo fi ma mu, garri. Eiye-ile na o ni je ko dagba!

All they have to do is be patient till they grab hold of power, then they can truly "dominate" everyone else in the country, most especially, the yorubas.

Sadly, they failed woefully!!

All those eventually led to the assassinations that took out the North and West (Akintola) but spared the likes of Zik and Okpara.

Later on, Zik also supported Ojukwu in early in the Biafrian war. He was an adviser to the Colonel. But once he realised that there was no way the Biafrian rebels were defeating the Nigerian Army, he quickly changed sides.

Even Colonel Ojukwu after releasing the Y-pig ancestor called Awolowo from Calabar prison, realized that treachery and bigotry is an Agbado thing. That is why pigs like you don't count.. cool

After Awolowo betrayed ojukwu.yhe same North denied him the presidency. They even used another Y-pig called Obasanjo and even MKO ABIOLA to achieve their plots.

IGBOs don't even regard ZIK...but Awolowo and Abiola died like Worthless PIGLETs. cool

Wow, Igbos were said to be the most astute and most industries then and they’re even more today!

Unlike Yorubas that have deteriorated badly. Back then, Lagos and Ibadan gave them some clouts due to earlier contact with Europeans. Today, touts and agberos now control their affairs. Remove Lagos and you will have a dead region in your hands. Ritual killings is now the order of the day.

Thank you for sharing. This is Reno Omokri's latest free education service to those who came to Lagos years later and thought Lagos is for sale. Lagos has never been for sale wink

63 years after, the Yoruba is still the richest, most advanced and the most sophisticated in Nigeria and Africa.

Like the offshoot of the dorminant Yoruba political movement (Action Group) that now has a strong political alliance with its then political adversary Northern region, and today has the coveted prize of Nigeria's Presidency, other tribes have made some progress too ,especially in the East where unclothedness has been significantly abolished and North where more female children now has access to western education.

God bless Nigeria for ever. Check my signature for free stuffs!

Why didn't GOWON come to BIAFRA to secure his release directly.?

Ojukwu didn't receive orders from GOWON, because GOWON was his Junior in the Army. Ojukwu didn't recognize GOWON.

So carry that foolish Propaganda and bury it in your Worthless brain.

Rubbish talk. That video was recorded in Calabar prison.

Biafria was declared on May, 30 1967. Awolowo was released on August 3 1966.

That was when Awolowo arrived Lagos after Ojukwu released him. Nigeria was operating a confederation then. Each region controlled their affairs and paid certain percentage of income to the center. Even Ojukwu stopped paying that when things deteriorated. If Gowon couldn’t force Ojukwu to pay tax that was even constitutionally binding, it was to release Awolowo that he will take order from Gowon?

Even military and police personnel of Northern extraction were forced to leave East. But you believe Gowon in Lagos still had authority over Eastern region?!

To whom brain is given, sense is expected!!

Why do you like to much. This is what happens when your spend so much time listening to the likes of Nnamdi Kanu.

Ojukwu can't release Awolowo when Biafria was not declared almost a year after Awolowo was released. As at 1966 when Awolowo was released, Calabar was under the firm control of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

If I ask you to show us a proof of Ojukwu releasing Awolowo in 1966, I am sure you can't show us.

Year 1963..

Yoruba were selling cocoa and the north still has its groundnut pyramid..

These people just love to live in the past.. and celebrate the past more than the present ..

Why ?

Because the present Yoruba has nothing to take home .. majority of them has disowned and abandoned their Woden 1963 houses in ekiti ogun oyo ondo osun and will quickly deny ever coming from those bushes ..
ask them... I be lagosian ... grin

I mean year 2020.. talk more 2023...

Maybe we have to keep reminding Reno the daft that .. “ I GET AM BEFORE NO BE PROPERTY..

Today SOUTH SOUTH “ is the richest region in Nigeria and feeds the country..
Next to that is the EAST.. he loves to hate .. and which Yoruba people sees their women as TROPHY .. that must be won on merit .. even after bad mouthing and blackmail.. they simply sneak back to as promise and beg Amaka..

Next is the North that is still feeding Nigeria through it Agricultural products

Today Yoruba has taken that back seat and only fund their economy by skull minning and internet fraud.. which they glorify even down to their cutltural music

Sophisticators has been replaced by m.c Olumo and his Alaye and Owmida crertians .. not talking about the level of cultism and killing .. basically for ritual purposes ..

A Yoruba man today will look his fellow Yoruba in the eyes .. while begging for his life in Yoruba language still butchered like animal just to increase igr on paper .. human life has no meaning ..

These are not qualities of a sophisticated region in 2023

Times has changed Me Reno the dunce ...

Stop living in 1960’s

Life has moved on ...

Even the Akwaibom of 90’s has become more developed and civil than the Yoruba states of ogun oyo osun ondo ekiti of 2023

Yoruba should be very a shame of this kind of article

But no!!!

They mastusbate and celebrate their yesterday .. instead of today

What’s actually wrong with this people?

Na waaaa...

Human beings sef

Chai!!! You just finish those people ooooo!!
Chai!!!! You Jas destroy zha small ego dem try to build up grin grin grin grin
