I 100% agree with you. I think Rufai shouldn't have come out of retirement for the 98 WC. He did very well at the 94 WC though.

I watched Rufai in Afcon 84 in Ivory Coast and he was phenomenal,losing to Cameroon in the final was partly cuz he was not available,also his Maroc 88 performance was rated as the best.…Rufai performance in this two Afcon was better than 94 Afcon and US 94 WC.....my point the best of Rufai was 1983-1989 though he came back in 1994 but Rufai of 80s was the koko.

Yes, Rufai had to be called back because Abiodun Baruwa that we had hoped upon had a disastrous series of Pre-world cup friendlies. Agbonavbare was not even in the picture as he was already loosing form and gaining serious weight.
