They asked him to take down an abusive content but he refused causing the site to be taken down after that he took it down but forgot to clear the cache so the site was restored but quickly taken down again.
After which he rushed to clear the cache but now cloudfare was determined to punish him prompting the commencement of another extra 36 hours ban, truly it's humbling in his own words.

But seun lied, at first he tweeted that nairaland was taken down due to unscheduled maintenance but when he found out he could no longer sustain his lie he decided to say the truth on his Twitter handle.

Please Mr seun take your site seriously and stop running it like the way Nigerian Politicians are running Nigeria.

Lol. Actually, something still amazes me about Nairaland.

I have been a member for decades now, but a mod banned my main and old username for 10 years, or is it 20 years?

The reason given was that I have an alternative handle, which is actually true. That alternative has also been banned for months; I think the ban will expire next year.

The alternative became necessary when I discovered that most times, my posts were hidden and sometimes banned for days by the antispambot for no reason.

For instance, I posted the link to my thread on a topic on the front page, and the post got deleted immediately, banning me from making any posts in that particular section for days.

Meanwhile, I keep seeing people doing the same thing every day without any repercussion. Some people even post external links, and nothing happens to them. Why should posting a link to my thread that has over 100 pages become an issue?

I love Nairaland; it has helped me in many ways, but the behavior of some of the mods seems really appalling, more like a show of power. How can you ban a member for 10 years plus, an old member for that matter?

My advice to Oga Seun is that he should weed out some of the power-drunk mods and also consider a better approach to punishing members that have erred.

Punishment should be appropriate.

He disregarded a warning but they didn't close down his site, that's a matured punishment unlike him and his people, any small thing, na ban person go chop asap, he really needs to do better
