This transport companies are very unprofessional and don't know how Government contracts works

They don't pay you upfront

The concept is simple

Transport fare goes higher during yuletide because Passengers Traffic is one way, they travel to Villages and nobody returns to city till January

This makes Transport companies loose on return trips with empty busses

Now Tinubu is giving them 50% to cover loss on return trips, for passengers to also get 50% discount

Are you sure you are not going crazy?

It's better to be safe than sorry

They won't lift any passenger at 50% discount until government pays these companies

Its not Mr president who pays directly & transport companies are afraid the people responsible for disbursing the fund might swallow it after the end of contract. Many pensioners got their money trapped with PTAD for more than 10yrs ago.

Transport companies ain't fools

Someone would be in Aso villa sniff cocaine mixed with marijuana become incredibly high and make a pronouncement with out no due consultations with the relevant stake holders , no feasibility study etc and his miscreants here on NL will cheer him and call him Jaganan borgu of all Nations. No single thing is yet to commence, no effect seen. Hardship increasing everyday. Is it a curse to be a Nigerian? embarassed

Well how do you expect FG to also pay for passengers not yet lifted, should they issue blanket cheques

Thus the problem with subsides.

The thing is, this is something that needs a year's preparation. You got to register the bus companies, and decide how many passengers they would carry so that it would be covered in the budget. Eventually one has to do things like completely computerize the process...so that we know exact numbers of who enters a bus for travelling.

Bus companies in Nigeria have hefty running costs. Telling them to carry passengers at half cost without paying them is a hard ask.

Yawns... If only propaganda wishes were horses. lipsrsealed

Tinubu wants to sail through 2 tenures on Smokes and Mirrors. Lol.

That won't work in this starving contraption.

This government has to come clean with its citizens on the true state of the Nation's finances... Then fully carry them along on the true path to recovery.

This dishing out of silly bogus promises and chicanery will do far more harm than good.

Propaganda can never be sustainable.

I looked at this prices and wonder. In 2011 when i went to Sokoto by air, i didnt pay up to this for my flight. Yet not many people travel by air. At 45, 000 its two people flight ticket with change then. This is just too bad.

It can even help future transport policy

Even then, the government cannot afford 50% subsides. Unless they have government run bus companies...which they can afford to do that for (and which would eventually lead to their collapse).

since you know how "Government contracts works", kindly help us out here:

1. can you show us the agreement the FG entered into with the said transporters?

2. is there anywhere in the budget where provision was made for Tinubu to give transporters "50% to cover loss on return trips, for passengers to also get 50% discount"?

Please listen 👂 and listen 👂 good.

If you don't have enough transport fare that will take you to and fro. Do your xmas where you reside, after all, it's Our Lord's birthday, not yours.

You know why, even if this most propagandous FG slashes your TF as promised, the will take it back in double folds in January, except you are planning on settlement down in your village.
