What I Leant When nairaland Went Down by YourGFsnatcher: 2:34pm On Dec 23, 2023
nairaland is part of my daily routine. So when it went down, I had scattered browsing sessions. Even my GF was trolling me because she thinks I like the site a bit too much.

Here's what I learnt when it went down

1. Twitter is a great space.
Haven't been a fan of twitter, but when I heard nairaland was trending on twitter, I had to check the threads and it wasn't bad. I followed nairaland, Seun and many nairaland users so I can get updates.

2. We have many aggrieved people that pretend to be happy.
I saw a lot of negative comments especially from a particular region that seems to feel attacked on nairaland. For my knowledge, every region is dragged here, what I didn't know is that some regions take it more personal than others.

3. Always have a backup plan.
Just like when u have only one phone and it crashes, the pain is severe. When things are working for us for sometime we tend to get too comfortable and forget that someday, something can go wrong and we are mostly unprepared for that. Thank God Seun is getting a new host to tackle such repeat.

4. Cyber-bullying is real and not everyone has a heart enough to take it.
Even though nairaland is a faceless forum, many people take comment serious and perosnal. Unlike some of us that welcome all sorts of comments and never take it beyond the page, some people are hurt by some of the comments. I reas a lot of people talking about how they got bullied through some comments. We are not all emotionally strong, some of us are emotionally fragile and we should look out for one another.

Conclusion
We are happy Nairaland is back, we hope it stays this way

Damaged souls that are fixated on tribe, can't think beyond tribe, can't make one statement without including tribal slurs. Which one is a particular region?

A certain set of people who feel best aggrieved about being attacked on Nairaland and are more outspoken about it.

How the owner of Nairand allowed his platform to be without strict control on proper communication is surprising.
So many people have stopped visiting this very informative platform due to the uncontrolled ethnic clashes. I hope sanity is restored soon

I had no idea it was down until hours before it came back. It means I've reduced the way I log in here but now that's it back I find myself always here.

Number 3; always have a backup plan!

I felt it too, as I had no other platform I visit.
No twitter, Facebook instagram, Snapchat or TikTok.
Nothing!

Good enough, had to face my books…

So the fact that they are more outspoken about it, doesn't tell your daft brains that they are far more educated or enlightened and believe such ethnic chauvinism shouldn't be found in the corridors of Nairaland?

This thread caps it all. There is a particular region who always play victim card. When it is glaring here that every region is being attacked, they went to Twitter rejoicing about downfall of Nairaland, and most of them are here reading this comment.

I hate people who think that the world revolve round them, if no one can tell them, I will, the world has moved past their stupidity. They are bunch of chestbeaters who turn everything into fight and won't still come out victorious.

You've captured what's on my mind

Back Americans are more outspoken about racial attacks... but I can't seem to find where it says they are smart or invested something useful to every race, that's if u ll remove complain sha...cos no one seems to use that tool better than them. I think most of them should be from that region

Even though I always correct and defend igbos here, what i saw on twitter made me have a second thought. This people actually hate SW with passion. Even when the platform is down, they were all over twitter to rain curses on Seun, saying all sort of negative things, only to come back here to source for useful information, forgeting that its the almighty tribalistic hub they wish it shut down forever
