Don't forget the 2018 predecessor was also the lowest DCEU opening ever at the time.
Still, this is easily out-grossing THE MARVELS. grin grin

At first you thought it would make over $600 million, now you just hope it does better than The Marvels. From Shazam 2 to The Flash to Blue Beetle and now Aquaman 2. DC has taken so many L's this year it's no longer funny.

A recent fan poll on Fandango found that the most anticipated movie of 2024 is a comic book movie. I thought they were tired.

Nothing bad in predictions. I remember you saying and hoping BARBIE flops. grin
Same L's MCU is also taking this year. Yours even extends to TV shows. grin grin

No matter how Aquaman 2 performs badly at the box office, it's definitely grossing higher than The Marvels. I ain't hoping. I know it.

I can bet anything with you....that's if you're open to it. THE MARVELS that can't even pass $100mn at US box office? 😂😂 Already has grossed half of entire The Marvels run in just 5 days. The Marvels wey dey follow fvvking Blue Beetle drag better US domestic overall gross? 😂😂

Worst movie I ever watched

Every dialogue in the mood was bad bro.
The fact that this is a movie that's poised to be the next Star Wars is laughable tbh. I love Snyder and I prayed this movie would be really good but it fell short.
First off and my main concern was the movie had no spirit at all. No humour, I didn't feel anything for the characters - the folks that joined her - the reason for joining her in the adventure was so bland to me- the rebellion and the reasons why one would die for a cause wasn't really fleshed out at all. Good Sci Fi movies should have humor esp through dialogue and physical humour but I saw none of that.
Also the story was so dry. Like every other SciFi movie, it doesn't have a new story to tell. The plot twist was already known in 30 minutes after the film started- no suspense at all
I just rewatched it the 3rd time and I'm giving it a 4/10

The bold text summarize why I gave it a 5. It feels like I had seen the movie before. Too cliche for my liking.

The scene with the guy flying the bird or creature was not needed. The way I rolled my eyes Ehn.

But what do I know 🤷‍♀️

"Breath of Life" (2023).

"MGM's Leo the lion roaring at the beginning of a Nollywood flick? Impossible!....or not?

The amount of times i have seen the ad of this on YouTube for the past one week and even on Billboard meant there was no way i wasn't going to indulge.

First off, From the beginning, you would just know the production is not 100% Nigerian, and some foreign input is at play here because it was so crisp and clean. The cinematography was top work, the location was Nigeria but there was a way the shots were taken that looked so polished even more better in full HD, which i saw it in 👏🏿.

The story tells of a man who lost his faith in God after a terrible personal loss and whilst on paper it presents itself as a "Faith based or Christian flick" but it is much more than that, it explores the themes of love, sacrifice, pain and loss in an amazing storytelling way that was heavy on good character development and excellent story arc. If you are an ardent cinephile, you could easily tell how it was all going to end, but not enough to keep you disinterested tho, as it had enough juice to make you wanna see the end. The storyline contradicts with logic at some point tho that made the narrative at a point not so compelling, but they made up for it, with an "obvious", but strong logical befitting ending.

The acting is top shelf, memorable performances especially from leads, the script is strong (little issues here and there but not enough to shake it), the direction was marvelous and the soundtrack was so good and carefully curated, you could easily tell that they had a professional music and sound director on the team, like i was actually Shazaming the songs as i was watching!. All these meant that the production value was A1.

Now while the movie is good, I don't think it will "jolt" you immediately you hit play based on how the marketing has been or how people have hyped it to be, but trust me, in hindsight, it is a top motion picture, it is a sure "breath of fresh air" from the poo that Nollywood tends to churn out more often than not. In the end, it leaves you profoundly asking yourself what is your purpose in this life?
A fine watch for a Christmas morning for me before all the festivities start 😊.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate on here and Happy Holidays my people 🎉

If I say there's Superhero Fatigue, y'all will attack me

You know why people don't take this your opinion serious? Its because you just say it as if that's the only reasons when there are many other reasons this movie is flopping. Saying a movie flops because of superhero fatigue only is just you being short sighted when a couple of superhero movies have been successful this year alone.

Trailer looks good...
But me wondering how a group of townfolk with 0 battle or weaponry experience led by a small group of ragtag protagonists is somehow going to defeat a large experienced army from the empire with all their weaponry and warships...

They could as well blow them out from the comfort of the sky without risking their lives...

But let's see how it plays out...
Hopefully the slow mo shots are drastically reduced

They should rest. The movie was destined to be written off before they had the chance to see because Snyder has to be taken down. I may have taken some of reasons with some seriousness if they had been fair to all. But they will hype some movie to the high heavens when it was undeserving. It is the way the world works. Rating it average may have been acceptable but rating it at the bottom pile is classical vendetta. Anyway this is my third watch of the movie

Errrmmmm......
Spartans were the greatest fighting force the world ever knew during that era. No fighting force came close to their war fighting dexterity. Only probably fellow greek tribes like Athens could slightly be as effective. Still, they were no match.
The Phalanx fighting technique was renowned and adopted by many due to it's superior advantage it gave to a small fighting force. They were the crème de la crème of war machines.
All their soldiers had been training for battle since they were kids, so it ain't comparable with other military. Being in a hostile environment due to Greek sister city-states ALWAYS fighting each other for decades meant the Spartan army had more than enough experience and were battle hardened. From Generals, lower ranking officers to soldiers all had years of fighting experience. Who fit compete with tha type or beast?

It's a popular myth that a single Spartan was worth 10-20 men. So, they didn't have the need for a large military.

But true, War isn't always about numbers but strategy. But it always goes both ways. Numbers can still win you a war easily.
