This is wrong! Before the Catholic church, there was something and this was the church of Christ which started 33AD until the Roman Catholic popped up 600+ years later and when the likes of Luther sought for a return to the old order this brought about the evolution of churches as it were today from Methodist, Baptist and the likes despite most of their leaders wanting not to be named after the ideas they're leading.

And Jehovah Witness members do not Decamp to other churches
Like Catholics and Anglicans who will see one Fine Girl and follow her to her own Church.😏😏

Still not possible, they are not in all countries, unlike Catholic who are missionary in nature and breakthrough even the most resilient culture, these people only go to countries where others have made ways.

They wait for others to enter a place and make way, na that time dey go come enter.

On the argument that Christmas is a Pagan feast

Another Christmas, and the recycled argument continues on how 25th December is a pagan feast, and how Christ was not born on the 25th.

Some things don’t go well with me, arguments like this that don’t make any logical sense.

Let us agree that Jesus was not born on the 25th, can you kindly suggest to us a new date? And since you know he was not born on the 25th, it therefore means you know or have an idea of the date he was born. Tell us then.

I heard this same argument for Sunday. They said Sunday is a day of worship of the pagan Sun-god and that the meaning of Sunday came from the Sun-god.

I remembered sharing a detailed teaching and telling those propagating that message the reason for Sunday, being that it was the first day of the week, and Christ rose that day and started appearing to his disciples every first day of the week as they gathered behind closed doors in prayers.

I think I should not have wasted my time in doing that, what I should have done would have been to simply remind them that the days of the week as we have them today were all adopted. They are all pagan.

Monday is named after the god of the moon. Thursday is for the Norse god known in Modern English as Thor. Friday is named after the Anglo-Saxon goddess Fríge. Saturday is named after the Roman god Saturn.

There is this impression from some of you that once anything has a pagan origin it is evil and it is impossible for it to be 'Christianized.'

Well, unfortunately, many things came from the pagans, including the papyrus that was used to write the bible in those days. The tradition of offering visitors kolanut in Igbo culture is largely pagan. Even Baptism as we know it today as the pouring of water or immersion in rivers did not start with Christians. Eating pork is pagan. New yam festival is pagan. Ojuju Calabar is pagan.

What some of you fail to see is that the Christian faith must be planted in a culture for it to take root. Even St Paul while preaching to the Areopagus in Act 17:16-34 had to use what the Athens have as an altar to the "unknown god", to plant the message of the living and known God into them.

Once the Christian faith is planted in any culture, it uproots the bad in it and retains the good. This is why once you mention "Sunday" we think about the day of worship in church and not sun-god. This is why 25th December may not be the day Christ was born in your calculation, but it has taken a Christian dimension pushing aside whatever it was known with before. This is why the cross, which was pagan, and seen as a symbol of shame, has now taken a total different meaning the moment Christ was crucified on it.

The pagan cross moved from shame to fame, from gory to glory (let me be looking for rhyme words like a motivational speaker since na watin una wan hear. Nobody should stress me biko.)

Can your reconcile why Orthodox Russian Churchs celebrate same Christmas on January 7th?.

Birthday celebrations in the Bible didn't end well, mainly that of Pharaoh and King Herod.. That of Herod did Jesus Christ attend?
Do they Jews celebrate birthday, it is a foreign festival introduced by the Romans.
The Hebrew scripture in Ecclesiastics Chapter 7 :1 reads, A good name is better than good oil, and the day of death is better than the day of birth.
Could this be the scriptural reason why Jesus Christ commanded his Apostles and would be fellowers to remember his death at Luke 22:19- Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body,n which is to be given in your behalf.o Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”20 Also, he did the same with the cup after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in your behalf death.,

Called Transubstantiation by Roman Catholic church
Ishtar original pagan festival by ancient Babylonians onnived to Easter by the Roman Catholic church

Most person who celebrate Christmas today will distaste been called Catholics, but Catholics they re.
Note the Bible is not against eating and drinking, but what re you drinking or eating for?

You know nothing. Purge yourself from fake doctrine and witness the renewal of your being in Christ Jesus.. Nobody is saying you shouldn't celebrate the birthday of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, but saying he was born on the 25th of December when it wasn't written in the bible. Jesus Christ was born in the month of October. That's why you people mark His death and resurrection in April every year instead of June.
Since he was born in the month of October, he lived for 33 and halve age, His 33rd birthday was October. 6 months later he was killed . When you count six months from October you will arrive at April. If it was in December, it will be in June. Do you mark his death and resurrection in June? Your answer is as good as mine.
No what you celebrate and purge yourself from ungodly activities. Anything that doesn't bring glory to God Almighty will be burned. Those celebrating Christmas are honouring the devil and will receive the devil's rewards.

You guys are one confused lots.

Why do you guys have your service on a Sunday, a day that is named after the sun king?
Stop this selective practice please.

Anyway, no one takes you guys serious.

CHURCH OF CHRIST

REASON

A MESSAGE ON CHRISTMAS
Tomorrow is December 25. In many countries, many will celebrate it as the Christmas day while others will carry on with their normal life. If you are celebrating Christmas, here's a message for you.

You're likely going to celebrate this Christmas in fanciful clothes, with fanciful church service, Christmas trees and delicious meals. Some will tell you how demonic Christmas is because of historical synopsis at their disposal. The celebration has evolved over time and it's origin is so far from us in time that such condemnations make little or no sense now. So enjoy yourselves; it's a holiday. But do your best to avoid these profane lies that celebrators of Christmas have been indulging in over the years.

One, don't say Christ was born on Christmas day. Know that "in the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and He was God" (John.1.1). The Word is Jesus Christ. He has no beginning and no ending. He already existed in the beginning. "He was with God, and He was God." It is a caustic profanity to limit the eternal One to His Humanity as if He was only human as we are. "He was in the beginning with God. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that He didn't make. Life itself was in Him, and this life gives light to everyone" (John.1.2-4).

Two, don't teach others Christ was born on Christmas day. It is an absurd disfigurement of the psychology of humanity to sing that aweful song which has the lyrics "Christ was born on Christmas day." This is more so when children are taught to repeat it.

Three, don't say three wise men visited Christ at His birth. Here's the passage that talks about wise men visiting baby Jesus: "Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem. They entered the house where the child and His mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before Him and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh" (Matt.2.1,11). Please, note that the number of wise men is not mentioned. Avoid the fallacious assumption that since they gave Him three gifts, they were three in number. You have given someone more than one gift before. That didn't make you many people, right?.

If you don't celebrate Christmas, don't be abrasive; be educative. The world needs enlightenment not lightening. If they give you a bonus in your office this season, take it with thanksgiving. If someone says Merry Christmas, tell them, Happy holidays. Be nice.

Well, in my case, I don't really belong to any denomination... But the question is would Jesus himself or people
like Paul celebrate Xmas today... Would Jesus promote what makes his major enemies happy all around the world?

The stories they tell children are just interesting lies or mere tales... I think masquerades are even better in terms of openness.

As I type, I can hear party music blasting away with people who don't want the real Christ. But they're forcefully celebrating his birthday. Imagine your enemies celebrating you on a false date—and even doing things that deeply offend you in the process... Something isn't right there; let's trace it to it's root first.

The bible says what's Spirit is Spirit, and what's of the flesh is flesh... And big and great in the eyes of people is an abominations in God's eyes.

God bless...

Besides for enemies of Christianity who want to be hypcrite, they should remember that some muslims celebrate Birth of Prophet Mohammad whereas majority of muslims do not celebrate it

So they are the enemies of Christianity for not celebrating Christmas?

sreamsense:
In christiandom, weather you celebrate Christmas or not is never a crime and optional. Choosing a day to mark a day Christ was born for our redemption worth celebrating. Jesus doesn't need to tell his followers to celebrate or not. How significant you weigh it in your mind will form your opinion or basis? God looks at the motive behind what man does. Jesus is loving saviour, he wouldn't have condemned such when he weighs motive behind the celebration.

It is not everything human knows how to do right in the presence of God, but his loving kindness shines on his followers with right motives weather you celebrate it or not. Even ordinary prayer, followers don't know how to pray right, it is the Holy Spirit that intercedes and reveal our right motives on prayer to God for answer. A compassionate Jesus that went about showing His loving kindness to sinners and humble hearts when he came to dwell among men can not condemn certain Christians for celebrating His birth or not. He doesn't need to tell Christians to do so before they do it or not. Jesus is loving, compassionate, kind and holy. If it were self-claimed prophet Mohammed, you can predict him because he doesn't love except hatred, killings, murder and law upon law. Mohammed can kill for celebrating his birth or not because he was full of hatred and wickedness.

However, Jesus is loving, he can't condemn certain followers because they celebrate him or not. At times, we only put unnecessary load upon ourselves that loving Christ never require from us

You no get shame and you are insulting a whole messenger of GOD ? May GOD reward you accordingly

Christmas is not the celebration of the BITRHDAY of JESUS CHRIST but the celebration of the BIRTH of JESUS CHRIST.
It has spiritual connotations.

You live in the world eat food in the world wear clothes made in the world do everything in the world and you have the guts to call people worldly beings. Yes even the foundation of the world is of Idol so all of us have participated on the worldly thing of this world, some of the things Christains use are invented by people who don't believe in Jesus or God, since they don't believe on what you believe why not stop using their products.I guess we can't do without those products.
The world is different from the Earth. The world equates to the spiritual cage of sinners. Every christain born again has been delivered from its foundation. The world in its activities is sumarrized in Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of Life all of which are made manifest during Christmas a supposed celebration of the birth of Christ ;a day where sinners advance in their sins and some believers go back to their vomit. I personally celebrate everyday that Jesus Christ is born into my heart.

Christmas is not of God but a conception where we worship trees and a man called St Nicholas however true believers use this Christmas to burn in zeal and passion for the kingdom of God in Gospel evangelism, prayers and studies.

Well I know Christmas was existed before those founders of the came to this world, catholic, baptism, Methodist, Anglican are celebrating Christmas,if those church like they should celebrate or not celebrate Christmas that's their own cup of tea , because I believe they can't be perfect than the founders of Christmas, when one king accept Jesus Christ into his life ,he decided to celebrate it , that's was how Christmas was brought up ,and it's during the winter so ,the pagan festival was supposed to hold on 25 of the month ( December) so he later abolish the pagan festival and replace it with Christmas,so why are u all disturbing ur self ,cos I believe if I shoot any member of this church they will definitely die

This doesn't make much sense. In several verses of the Bible, Jesus prayed to Almighty God.

Does God pray to another God??

Also the John 1 vs 1 people like to use to prove Godship of Jesus actually goes against the very teachings of Jesus as the Verse and it's preceding ones categorically stated that there are Two God's.

Jesus said,

"The greatest of all commandments is here oh Israel, the lord Our God is One God"
