Yes! And I'd repeat it on any forum, the hysteria and faux outrage it'd generate regardless. We all are thinking it, most know it's the truth, but most don't want to stir the hornet's nest. I don't mind doing so sometimes.

Ask the average Anambra or Enugu guy what he thinks about the Mbiase people and Awara(?) people of Imo State, and you'd be shocked. In 2023, these people still think some subethnicities of their tribe are inferior and you think they'd unite.
.
All the ammunition/evidence you need even on the pages of Nairaland just search from google SE state 1 vs SE state 2 Nairaland. Some threads just 1 page some over 600 pages of dickswinging and insults at the other state dating back over 10yrs on this forum. Abaggwooroo will represent one state, Chinnoo another state, ashaaa90 another state, 0nlytruthh another state

Even threads to celebrate one state is filled with insults from people in the same ethic group

It's a shame, everybody knows how Akeredolu trusts that woman absolutely and gave her leverage in everything. This one is not even an uncle looking to claim land and already casting aspersions on the lady.
I don't even know what people like that man stand to gain talking shiiit about someone else's spouse. If Akeredolu's wife wasn't a good woman does he think the man would've risen to the pinnacle of his career as a SAN in the first place or even become a governor sef?

There are so many people that had great potentials but their choice of spouse cut their growth short.

Well, the current governor blames Buhari administration for allowing Plataeu to be a fertile ground for terrorists to grow.

I asked you yesterday I will ask again

Is there a reason why there is no Amotekun type in NC

https://www.nairaland.com/7950824/where-amotekun-esn-plateau-benue#127654802

If you are worried about the legal framework just copy and paste whatever the SW did with Amotekun and SE with Ebubeagu

If its good enough for SW, then its good enough for NC

we are seeing the same shit with mobad - how a useless good for nothing dead beat sperm donor has come out of the woodwork and is now forming concerned dad and talking s**t about Mobad's widow
That Mohbad father ehn.... The less said about him, the better.

I read Mohbad's mum interview and the woman claimed the same thing the man is doing to Mohbad's widow & the grandchild, he did same to her when she was still with him. She said he once called Mohbad B*st*rd so she's not surprised he's doing same all over again.

U are partly right and he's also partly right.

He's partly right because only the police, DSS, NSCDC and other FG controlled security agencies that can actually investigate and effect arrest of suspected terrorists carrying out these killings.

You are partly right by saying he's not serious. A serious governor will do everything to protect his people even if he's incapacitated by the inaction of FG controlled security agencies. Just like Ramdeuter suggested yesterday, nothing stops Plateau & Benue state governors from floating their own state security/paramilitary agencies like Amotekun in Southwestern states. At least they get security votes which nobody knows what they use it for.

Instead of discussing with this Tinubu administration and waiting for help that may take so long to come, they can put things in place and fund their own paramilitary agency for the protection of their people.
When I saw those images from Christmas of Benue, my skin just begin crawl and that is where I give credit to Akredolu and that was what endeared Akeredolu to many Yorubas.

He might have failed in other areas of governance but he dared Buhari and the Fulanis in govt and established Amotekun, whatever constitution or legal framework that was needed was provided, Amotekun has not stopped all crisis and insecurity but it has helped some. Instead of being sitting lame ducks waiting to be picked off

I mean you will hear that marauders are coming from this place and 1hr away and you will start hiding or praying. If I ever live in Nigeria I must own guns

Maybe they forgot that part of their oath of office was to protect the lives and properties of the citizens of their state.

The hard conversation about policing in Nigeria will need to be discussed. We cant continue on this path. As long as the Governors can always hide behind the FG, the tendency of abdicate their own responsibilities is very high. Just collect security vote every month and flex with it.

The NPF cannot adequately police the entire country currently and alot of states are already militarized which shouldn't be so. Something has to give.
Something is better than nothing, Arming a group with pump action and ready to defend is better than just sitting and waiting for your turn
This is even a low hanging fruit for a state like Benue and Plateau. Any governor who does this will win 10 terms straight

They are killing your people now now and you are making phone calls to Abuja. Will the killers wait? Your solution is local. Middle belt have some of the fiercest and bravest guys in the country why cant they be organized?

The problem in this is that a governor who is let's say member of PDP will accuse a president who is APC member of using Federal Police to overrun his state police. Just look at the situation we had with Buhari v Ortom of Benue state that year.

Normally one would say the Judiciary should be in the best place to determine who has jurisdiction between Federal & state police on certain matters, but we all know what our Judiciary has become with different injunctions being obtained from different courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
just now a thought came to me, Ebubeagu and Amotekun are in a region where we have one ethnic group. I think those middle belt places, there are people actual indigenes whose sympathy are with either side. I mean Plateau indigenes politicians even commisioners maybe DG whose loyalty is with one side. E.g Governor is Berom, Deputy is Fulani. Speaker is Hausa, Senator is Angas etc
So within the cabinet sef, their loyalties are different

While Deputy governor is celebrating the killings of Dec 24, the Governor will be celebrating inside of him the killings of yesterday

Maybe that is where the problem lies

Take Kaduna for example, Governor from Fulani stock, Deputy Yakowa from Southern Kaduna. House of Assemble split 60-40 On those who prefer Fulani to kill everyone vs those who feel the Southern Kadunas should kill everyone

Some of those governors just mourn on camera, call out FG but continue to chop security vote without actually doing anything to better their lot.

This is why I think debates should be made compulsory for those seeking election into public offices like governorship and presidency. At least if there's a debate they can ask governorship candidates of troubled states like Plateau, Benue & kaduna what plans they have concerning handling the perennial ethnic/inter tribal clashes in their states.

That's why at times our diversity as a people seems to be more of a curse than blessing. Some issues might be minor like a farmer who is Berom fights his Fulani neighbor whose sheep eats his seedlings and before u know it ; it will take serious ethnic coloration to become a major communal clash.

Any small matter escalates due to lack of trust on both sides of the divide.

You dont even need debates for all these, How can you see your people being killed and you think your body go rest unless you kind of believe they are not your people and you sef no really like them

How can you see the images shared recently and be at peace and be waiting for debates. As a governor you might even be lynched in those places if you don't take actions

Its almost like putting Jews and Arab who have for 100yrs been trying to kill each other inside one state and ask them to form vigilantes? Will the vigilante be defending Jews or the arabs

Some of the distrust from the middle belt is over decades at least I grew up early 90s hearing of Zamani Lekwot in Zango Kataf that we used to pray for in our Baptist church for his release from death penalty for daring to arm his people in Kaduna to defend against Hausa marauders

If this country will break we need over 30 splinter countries from it

If u if think people who supported & defended these statement will take responsibility na OYO be ur case.

dem go tell u to hold ur governor responsible. governor is not d commander in chief of d armed forces. look @ Burkina Faso..their president is giving matching order to d military to take d fight to terrorist enclave & roast them alive in those territory dey occupy. Dis fight no be fight wey u dey use dane gun & local vigilantee. Na fighter jets & sophisticated UAV.

These guys will rather shift blame & make loads of excuse cox winning election & maintaining their political structure is more important.

Yeah it's going to be a hard conversation.

1.State policing can help curb activities of non-state actors in parts of the sates that are not adequately policed.

2. State policing can be abused by state governors to witch-hunt their perceived enemies/members of the opposition.

There must be a middle ground somewhere somehow
I agree totally. We cannot throw away the baby with the bath water. Community led policing is the only way we can proper police our huge landmass.

I believe if there is going to be a state police, all these consideration will be put into place in the act that establish each state police. Each state police will have its territories clearly mapped out, their powers, when a crime is under federal jurisdiction and so on.

The powers of the federal police will also be clearly spelt out. There are some crimes that should fall under the federal jurisdiction including terrorism, national security issues, national corruption and the likes.

A friend of mine in primary school was raised by a relative because he lost both parents to the Zango-Kataf crisis when he was a toddler.

Na why I dey vex sometimes when I see people like Elrufai in 2023 still doing everything to widen the gulf between the southern & northern Kaduna people with some of his unguarded statements.

The last election at all levels, nobody bothered to ask these guys about security before voting. We were too busy making memes out of Tinubu or reminding Obi that it is Yoruba turn. I think we should all come to terms with the routine slaughter there as no president or governor have the will to end it. Na normal thing. Nobody dey shock again like buhari.

These women know how manipulative they can be and their tendency to put only their interests first; the naysayers on that thread inclusive.
Please stop generalizing based on gender. There are very many good women out there with good and lovable characters. (Your mum and sister hopefully). And there are terrible "manipulative women who put their interests first".

Just like you have good men with good characters and personalities and then violent and terrible men who proudly calls his fellow human beings cannibals, beasts and corpse eaters. Stop generalizing based on gender. It's truly a primitive way of viewing things.

A few exceptions do not negate the validity of a rule or theory.

Our women have commercialised even the most basic of intergender interactions which aren't intimate or romantic, as something as commonplace as constant interactions is seen as an opportunity to fleece or extort. Even casual male friends are extorted from or fleeced, not to mention men they are in sexual and/or romantic relationships with.

Have I experienced good women? Yes. Have I been with or still with relatively selfless ones? Yes. Still, my experience, just like the example posted by the OP, doesn't negate the more common experiences of most Nigerian men.
And here in response to Joe:

DissTroy:
I think a man should spend and protect a woman who has proven her worth and shown herself to be kind.

I see men - some from the SE - toil all year and don't look it but their wives look good. You'd hear men brag like, "The way to know I have money is by looking at my wife". She embodies your wealth but you don't look it?

She doesn't get you gifts or care for you. You have to pay for everything? Even I tell women at first intimacy that I like being spoiled with gifts and taken care of. It scares some away while some remain. That's pruning.

If I have #100, ma'am, I'm not giving you #80. Not even #50. Until I am sure there's a certain #200 on the way. I won't put myself in harm for you.

I'm not making myself uncomfortable when I am ill to please you like Akeredolu. We both know, the kids are more under your spell than mine so you are leading them on like Emeka Ike's.

I won't even be with her if she's the type to sit back. Joe, women have money to spend and care as long as you set a standard they must adhere to.

The only female I got a gift this Christmas is the one who consistently has been caring and spoilt me. She even reciprocated with a gift. Others who didn't get me something for Christmas got nothing from me. NOTHING. I even told one bluntly who came visiting and asked for a gift hours ago.

Most men didn't get any Christmas gifts from women but they they have spent money getting gifts for the same leeches. Putting yourself first sometimes means self-respect and dignity.

Women look out for themselves first by default. Study how women think and follow them accordingly. Men should put themselves first.

Today's woman has evolved to be more selfish. Today's man must learn to evolve to make himself a priority.

It is not poverty. A truck carrying goods falls down and people who were going about their business suddenly abandon everything they were doing to loot.

It is predatory opportunism. Robbery in lagos traffic is often the same thing. Some of the people caught turn out to be bus conductors or traders. Not out and out criminals.

To be fair it is a base part of human nature not limited to Nigerians. I am sure Ibime and nihilistjnr also grabbed some TVs and basmati rice in the 2011 UK riots grin

The difference however is that for Nigerians na small trigger. All you need is a trailer to fall down or a traffic jam,not a complete breakdown of law and order and a large number of people surrender to their baser instincts and start looting

You are right that it is predatory opportunism. The poverty is what lowers the trigger for Nigerians though. You have also forgotten that in Nigeria there is already a permanent state of disorder. When you combine poverty and the disorder in Nigeria, you will understand why the trigger is lower.
