You are right that it is predatory opportunism. The poverty is what lowers the trigger for Nigerian though. You have also forgotten that in Nigeria there is already a permanent state of disorder. When you combine poverty and the disorder in Nigeria, you will understand why the trigger is lower.

See ehn, if I talk some of the crazy scenes I've witnessed in this Lagos

I was in a bus around 7up-Toll gate side and we were heading to Alausa Ikeja; right from that 7-up bus stop there was serious traffic. As soon as we got close to the 7-up bus stop, our driver told the conductor to get down and do something.

I didn't really catch what he told him to do, but I saw the conductor approach LASTMA & policemen controlling traffic at that junction. After a discussion that lasted few seconds, the conductor squeezed N200 into the policewoman's hand and the LASTMA removed the impediment they used to block people from passing one-way in front of Daystar church.

Na so law enforcement agents direct us pass one-way and they closed the route behind us almost immediately. Everybody in the bus just shock.
